Thanks for all the updates, Gary.

Just a note on the leaderboard -- I pulled the 'dots' of the scratches off the main map to unclutter things (at Matt Lee's request).  Everyone's individual pages remain, though.

Also, I added Rohan Freeman and Jason Koski, who are doing an individual time trial, starting from Banff on Jun 26th.  I will get their stats to reflect their actual start time (miles per day, avg speed, etc) when time allows.

Hey Scott,

Thanks for all of your work on the leaderborad (and thanks to any others involved).  I will be "Avidly" following till the last one finishes or scratchs.  & Congrads to all who have finished, big pat on the back to all who started this beast, and a big "Cheers & go go & good luck" to all who are still putting in the miles!!

Shout out to Pete, heal fast!!!!

Jamie Thomson stayed with us the night before last.  What a character!  He's having a great time, listen to his call ins.  I'm getting the impression the 100 mile-a-day guys are getting the most from this ride.

That's how I'm planning to fast-tour the TD: 100-120 miles a day, at most;)

OTOH, an amazing interview with Matthew Lee posted on Outside Online Adventure Blog (by Jon Billman, alumnus of the GDR):

I hope Dario is not so disoriented that he can't get back to the route, or at least to a source of water.  I feel bad for him, it's a harsh place to be lost.

He's back on route -- whatever he's up to.

Look at the ITT team of Rohan and Jason.  They apparently took a different (paved?) route to Helena (bike woes?) and are now going back to Lincoln...!

BTW, Deanna Adams has to be currently a record holder as someone who rode the longest distance on a fixie in a Great Divide/Tour Divide race!!!! One tough lady;) Tailwinds Deanna...

I was thinking the same about Deanna on the fixie but the total mileage showing in the Spot focus is still just under 1,100 and I think Dave rode just over 1,100 going in the other direction. I would have thought she'd be way over 1,100 by now...?

Either way, amazing ride by her and she's still rolling!

Don't go by the total mileage in SPOT, that's clearly wrong. All it does, it takes a straight line between SPOT readings. So, if you didn't have your SPOT on for a day and rode 100 miles on a route, the straight line between the SPOT points might be only i.e. 60 miles... She definitely did at least 1,600 miles already;)

Cool Dave, it's great you met up with her.  42X17 isn't quite SO big.  I read an earlier report that she was running a 73" gear which is too big around here for even road riding.  Still, 42X17 is a big gear, around 65-67", I think.  She is pretty amazing.  We are cheering for her.

The group of 4 just hit here and are out on a food mission.  I'll report more later...

+1. Right on, Dave - good on you for meeting up with her. Deanna is an inspiration.

She must've changed her chainring somewhere along the line, as she sure heck didn't start with a 42 on there. That's a stock 46t Sugino Messenger crankset all they way:

They generally come stock with a 44 or 46 on there.

Like I said before - running a biggish gear might not be such a bad thing. It's not the 'fast' way (fixed wheel isn't regardless) but it may be the 'long haul' way, especially when you're staying positive and keeping your ego in check as Deanna has. I'm sure she has had to walk a lot, but that's not as bad when you're a good hiker/runner as she seems to be. Lots of dieseling or walking definitely saves some pressure on the posterior, not to mention being able to ride on the flats and slight downhills more comfortably. Contact points and knees are the real achilles riding like this. Parts of Montana had to be pretty unfun sometimes, but she really rode well through the basin and is doing great in CO.

It just goes to show you that a positive mental attitude, determination, acceptance, and humility are the goods that are really important beyond gear/kit analysis, etc. Not messing about and putting in as much time as you can during the long daylight hours = forward progress regardless of what you roll. Not to mention, a few of the really serious (meaning: ride from home, 600k brevet, ride back home) fixed wheel rando riders across the pond run monster gears in the high-70s or low-80s. I'm still attached to the twiddling though...

She deserves a finish + plenty of respect for her attitude and determination. I'm cheering for her too!

Hey all... It's been great fun watching this event play out and keep playing out. The fun isn't over yet!

I posted before that I met Matthew and posted some pics and video at my OYB site.

Lately I've been following the tight cluster of 7 or so riders who are closing in on the finish.

A few days ago I jotted down the 7 names, in their order, to see if anyone came on real strong and changed the finish order.

Well, lo and behold, Joe Meiser wasn't even in that lead group now he's near the front of it! What's the news there? Offhand, it seems like he suddenly put a good days-worth of riding on everyone. What??!!! What a finish! Or maybe he has always been close and I screwed up?

I wish I could follow this action even better somehow... Well, I'm just a lightweight at following this stuff.

I kinda wish the splits showed the time between the readings rather than the elapsed time so we could see who did each section how fast.

Jeff, you can just subtract yourself to get that, right?

This exchange is from the TD blogs on the subject of Deanna's gearing...

Oh comon, this one is a classic:
"Look at that picture! The guy is riding in the middle of the road, doing a wheelie where there is a double yellow line. So, that possibly means there is a blind curve or hill, but a situation where passing is prohibited. If he is in the middle of the road, and car comes around the corner or over the hill and doesn't see him, he could get hit. I wonder who would be at fault."

People that comment on 9news.com have some serious issues... If they could only visit Antelope Wells and see the long, straight, flat road that stretches for miles and miles and miles... haha.

(P.S -- congrats to the herd of finishers yesterday!!!)
