Michael Komp, just outside of Hartsel, Colorado.  Had that ‘focused’ look in his eye, didn’t want to chat, just ride and beat the rain to Salida.  Also said he would like to catch up to Deanna and or Brad to have someone to ride with.

FYI - tourdivide.org is up, but it is having issues (it has been sluggish most of the weekend).  The leaderboard works, but the data (position, times) has not been updated since last night.  Hopefully the downtime will not be long.

Hi everyone,
this is Sue, Jason's wife...Jason and Rohan are doing the ITTD....Did anyone happen to catch any photos of them along the route?

They are loving this race and moving v. quickly through Montana!

WRT an earlier post....Rohan did have some tire issues in Lincoln so went to Helena and then back up to Lincoln to continue the ride....hopefully all is well, Jay called in from Lima last night sounded good...

Banff to Antelope Wells is 2705 miles according to the split chart.  I think that makes 27 days and 72 minutes to meet the GDR 100-mile-per-day cutoff (which TourDivide does not share).

Per, Paul and Trevor might make it to Antelope Wells by 11:12 AM Thursday if the wind, bikes, and health cooperate.  I wonder if they are working toward that goal?  I sure hope so, as it would be a really fine and tidy accomplishment.  If they are working toward that goal, they may ride into the night, or get up really early tomorrow.

They rough camped 8 or 10 miles north of Beaverhead.  They left Beaverhead Work Center at 0710, traveled  57 mostly rough miles to Mimbres, and arrived at 1330, which is dang good progress through that stretch of rough road.

Mimbres to A.W. - 146.9 miles
Silver City to A.W. - 123.9 miles
Separ to A.W. - 72.7 miles, all paved.  Took Matt 5 3/4 hours to cover that.
Hachita to A.W. - 46 miles

Go go go!  I'm cheering for you guys!

I thought it was 2705 last year and the new BC route made it 2745.  From the title page
of the TD, and other places.  Adds some time...like 848pm.

And it's probably another 10-15 miles longer as some racers mentioned that the new Flathead valley re-route cuesheets were under-reporting the distance...

Thanks for the correction to 2745 miles.  That's good news.  They shouldn't have any problem making Antelope Wells by 2048 on Thursday.

I had 2768 GPS miles to complete the full route. There is some off route in there certainly though no major wrong turns or off route sections.

EDIT: That is with both legal NM detours due to rain...

Here's a funny one, to me anyway.

I got a chance to finally meet and have a quick chat with Matthew Lee mid-race in Salida, CO.

We'd emailed over the years and I also had my digicam with me so I put it on video-mode as we chatted so I could upload something "newsy" from the race to YouTube and my OutYourBackDoor website.

I'm a DIY sort of journalist but I couldn't think of any good questions to ask him. It about made me laugh.

I mean, it seems like I could've asked something like "So what's the best time been for you so far out there? The worst?" He's done the route/race 6 times so I could've asked how this year is comparing so far to the others.

But he was in The Zone. And it kinda seemed like questions were silly. So we just chatted about more general race topics---origins, food, water...

So much for the sharp journalism! : )
