We live in Denver and can help his wife and daughter out however we can.  We're coming back from St. Louis but will be home by tomorrow night if they need anything -- lodging/food/transportation please message us and let us know.

Please throw my name into the hat if local help is needed or wanted. We live in Fort Collins (1 hour north of Denver), and we'd love to help in any way that we can.

The last update on Dave B was that he is critical but his vitals are stable.  We won't know more until very late tonight at the earliest when his wife arrives from Vermont.  Our family coming from the east coast and friends are on thier way for support. Thank you all for your support and kind words. I will keep you posted when I know anything more.

I'm afraid I have bad news to share. Dave Blumenthal was in a serious accident with a car this morning in Routt County. He is in the hospital now and I believe his family has been notified.

I know from following Dave's blog, his posts here and his TD effort what a greatly spirited adventurer he is.  May that energy carry him through this tragedy.  We're definitely thinking of him and his loved ones here tonight.   Not many details about the accident are available yet, but there is now this:

My heart is heavy with the news of Dave's crash.  Words do not suffice.  Nor do tears.

Man, I get back from a great day on the bike, check up on the TD, and see the horrible news about Dave.  Anyone who made it as far as he did on the GDR is incredibly strong, so let's hope that strength continues to serve him well.  I know people already offered, but I can also help his family if they need anything...I'm only 30 min from Denver.

The stretch of the course where the accident took place is a fast, coarse gravel descent that winds around quite a bit on a relatively narrow road.  It's eerily similar to the road where Pete Basinger had his run-in with a pickup truck on the GDR last year.  Pete recovered miraculously quickly...let's hope Dave can do the same.

We need one of those patches to wear like baseball players have on their uniforms, in the form of an emocon.  I can't shake this off easy, it's like halting all production in the gulf until we can get this cleaned up. Knowing Dave has the best care possible helps, but man.
I just wanted to tell Marshall that if I was in town I could help out, but i'm not, so i won't. I just hope Dave can finish this ride someday. I know this is poetic injustice, let's keep pushing.

I'm just holding my breath about Dave B. The waiting is hard.

I'm also hoping he finds an upside to the big change in plans. It can happen...

Hoping for best outcomes...

It may complicate things, but like the Tandem class, there might be a pairs class, so that riders can choose the "buddy system" for this race. I don't think I will be inclined to be out there absolutely alone. It exceeds my risk tolerance. And, I expect the solos will still hold the course record. I think you can still obey all existing rules and still decide to stick together with someone or a group.

I have a race question... I see posts referencing blue dots and red dots and watching blue dots moving in real time, I guess. But I use the Leaderboard on the TD homepage and only see the bootprints. Are there other viewing options? (That Topofusion update thing a week ago was great to see, with the time-lapse action.) Thanks.
