Here in Fernie snow is finally melting after a few days of warm temperatures over 20°,rivers and creeks have,of course, swollen, and I heard of the first bridges being washed out.Dike in town has been munched in some sections but nothing to scary so far…if big rain do not come into play ,we should avoid the big flooding like last year.Good news for you guys is,that snow is melting!
I have not heard of any specific issues on course so far and I will go up there make some inspections a little closer from the Start.

Hey Guys,

It is Memorial Day today and it is a special day for me. I'm dedicating my ride to my two fallen brothers last year. They were my friends and coworkers in the military down here in Yuma, Arizona. I'm riding to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). The SOWF puts kids through college who have lost a parent serving under the Special Operations Command. Here is the link to my fundraising site. I dont expect any donations from you guys since Im sure we are all riding for our own reasons, but i figured i would let you guys see my story in case you were interested on this American holiday.

Hi all, been a silent observer for a while but will be at the GD in Banff.

Haven't seen any postings in relation to being picked up in Antelope Wells upon completion, I recall from last year there were some (semi) locals prepared to shuttle riders back to civilisation for a fee - anyone aware if they are offering their services this year / got contact details.

Enjoy your taper folks and see you in a few weeks

Hi, good luck to all in td this year. Earlier posts about wieght got me thinking. Is it rediculous to think about ditching the inflatable sleeping pad for more space and less weight. I saw someone else said they were and just curious as to what you thought.

Everything's a trade-off.  If you need the pad to get proper recovery, take it; if not, try to go without.  You can always pick one up on route if you have to.

Maybe one of the things about "weight" is that it's an optimization, and not one to take too soon. Think, "Utility" and "Simplicity", then think about weight, after a shakedown test (tests) prove the other two are in the right proportion.

An update on my knee status for all those that helped and offered advice.

Still healing, but on the better end of it now. Finally, I had a professional bike fit (I know, I know...) He moved the saddle down and back, replaced my stem with one 20 mm shorter, and moved my cleats forward and out. (Ironically, he returned my saddle to where I originally had it before my training began. I had been adjusting it ever upward as knee discomfort began, and had to move the saddle forward to compensate to ease the back. As result, my fit got all out of whack, leading to further knee pain...)

Rode for an hour yesterday and today, all flat and soft pedaling. Some minor discomfort yesterday. Made some minor additional adjustments to cleat and saddle, and rode pain free today. Going to keep riding an hour a day this week, and if all feels good, amp up a bit more for the next week. After that, it's off to Banff! Not altogether confidence inspiring, but inspiring enough!

Threw out every redundant baggie and rubber band, downsized tubes, baggies and other items like ties and stakes and groundsheet. Dropped some batts and straps and oil and a several other little things. Dropped back up phone battery and cord. Padded bars instead of aero cups lean on that anr harness instead better feel anyway. Reduced parts lost the brake pads etc. Took off map bag. Swapped to tabs from filter now down to 32.69 lbs. Sweet. Enough clothes for the cold and rain I didnt go light there or reduce quality. I am ready in the bike/gear department just need to put cues and maps in phone and load gps.

For shuttles into/out of Antelope Wells, someone posted this link last year on the TD '13 Race topic:

http://www.adventurecycling.org/default/assets/File/Routes_Maps/pdf/GD_shuttle.pdf

A number of people seemed to have used Lloyd Payne from Lordsburg and had good things to say about him.

For anyone who ever needs GREAT bike bags. I just got my second set from Greg (12wheels on Bikepacking.net) and they are amazing! Absolutely perfect fit and his custom work is amazing. If anyone is looking to do the Divide or any other bike packing ride/race in the future I highly recommend his stuff! You can find the link to his stuff in the Classified section on this site. Thanks again Greg!

Got my SPOT on trackleaders. AWESOME! I need to make some changed to my profile though (i.e. upload a photo/sponsor info etc). Does anyone know how to do this? I don't see a login anywhere to access/edit my profile. ?
