Is that a custom carbon tandom? I think I know who I'm rooting for.
It's a custom steel frame and fork fabricated by Cjell $$. Mone Bikes. I've ridden it. It's dope.

no ghost riders to show the records this year? Maybe because of the re-routes?

That would be a mental letdown, to have to climb back up to the Smith-Dorrien road. Now it looks like his spot is back in Banff, anyone know what the issue is?
Apparently he had a shredded tyre, and then a failed fork.

Just got a call in I'll post in a moment. Steve Fuller notes that someone was taken off course by ambulance. Will post when I know something. If anyone hears anything can you email me at mtbcast at gmail? I'm headed down route again today. Will have the Spot out and visible!
**EDIT** The racer was David Silverander. He had a concussion but it sounds like he's going to be okay.

The leaders have climbed the HAB "wall" as they begin their second 24 hours... WOW !!! It's impossible to forget that section... crazy steep.
Headed for Gaulton Pass...Allez !!!

Eszter was hiking through snow/mud (with snow and rain falling) for most of the Canada and north MT section that year... The real test will be as they head south. Gotta love the weather condition variables. She looks to be an impressive rider either way. Will be fun to watch.

Oh the snow and mud...that was a good time, wasn't it Jarral? I remember spending the entire snow hike over Red Meadow Pass talking about Chinese food with Josh. Lael is an amazing rider (and human being). With good weather and good luck, sub-18? As much fun as it is to watch the EH ghost dot each year, I would LOVE to see Lael crush it start to finish. Maybe that way I could actually get stuff done for the middle 20 days in June...

Just south of Elkford, the bridge over the Fording River is out and has been since the floods. Is everybody just hiking down the steep section, fording, and hiking up again? How dangerous is that?

Jeff T (nobo) looks to be having a tough time finding the route just N of Pinos Altos - hope he figures it out soon. Alex H pulled all the way over Cabin Pass until 4am, took a 3hr nap at the Wigwam, while most other leaders took the 3hr nap earlier at Butts Cabin. Yet top 6 or 7 are all within 30mins of each other entering the US. Marshal B is riding solid - go Marshal!

An alternator is someone who didn't follow the route, I think.

Neil B and JP couldn't resist the hot grub at Cafe Jax ;-) I don't blame them. Anyone know what the snow conditions are like on the Passes? Flathead, Cabin, Galton? Tight race up front. Go dudes!

I don't normally pay much attention to tandems but that thing looks very dialed in for them. I hope to see a write-up about it after the race. At first glance it looked like one of the glued up custom carbon tube bikes, kind of like how they build those bamboo frames. Steel's cool though.

Lael was taking part of in Holy Land Challenge (HLC) in Israel, 1400 KM with 20000 meter climbing, on last April. She had an amaizing ride finishing second place. She is a strong rider and very much use to sleep outside and live on nearly nothing.
