Two lady single speeders close to record pace or BOTH the ladies AND the overall single speed category. SS record would be what I would want to shoot for on my next go around. Let's see if either can bring it down!

A big shout out to Idahoan Travis Waters who is just working his way off the Flathead. I spoke with him at the start yesterday and he seemed pretty nervous, but he is lighting it up and making great time. Hal Russell is doing well too; he's a huge inspiration to us older guys who dream of doing something like this.

And I just can't believe the pace up front. Phenomenal.

Lael's electrifying pace is even more impressive when you find out she's battling some illness:

They all have immense talents and I'm also really curious how a top pedigree former roadie like Connor (a former rider in the US Under 23 development squad) will match up against one of the top ultra marathon specialists like JP.

Speaking of experience, note that 60-year old Robert Orr is setting a very hot pace for the gray team.

I just noticed the graph of cumulative distance as a function of time. That's great! It would be fun to have the ghost leaders on the graph. The cumulative distance graph shows how little the male leaders are sleeping. The female leaders are sleeping more.

The regular graph shows how very fast ghost Ezster is. She's ahead of most of the men, even though her race was harder than theirs is.

I think Conner will flame out.  The Men's race is Neil vrs JayP.

I think counting Alex Harris out would be a poor decision...

I'm looking at the four 50+ women on the course. Lisa Downing and Rosemary Lee are ITTing northbound; wonder what happened to them just before Salida. And Tracy Burge and Carolyn McClintock are ITTing south.

Go 50+ chicas!

Howdy All,

Ovando is gearing up for the first of the riders to be arriving today.  With the projection into Lincoln in about 13 hours or so, we are trying to determine when they will be arriving Ovando.  For those in the know:  How long is the rider between Ovando and Lincoln.

Don't want to miss these guys photo opp!
Thanks!

We are definitely looking forward to Tracy as she was Ovando's inspiration to become more cycle friendly.  I don't think she knows what a "mini-monster" she created here.

Does anyone know if they snapped a picture of Neil Beltchenko? I was unable to be there to see him off and would love to see a pic! Thanks! -Lindsay of BPM
Hi Lindsey.  I'm sticking around today/tonight/as long as I need to, to get those photos of Neil and Jay and hopefully all the way to Alex Harris.  Keep your fingers crossed they don't spend hours at dinner and arrive here after 9 pm.  :-)

I too am looking forward to the Ladies and especially Tracy.  It was Tracy that inspired Ovando to become more cycle friendly several years ago.  I don't think she knows what a "mini-monster" she created.

+100

While both Neil and JP are enjoying a well deserved lead. Alex is a beast of a cyclist and is capable of devouring large pieces of this race in short order. It will get interesting when the early race enthusiasm wears thin and these racers need to rely upon their bodies experience and ability to function with little to no sleep and deal with pain and fatigue. Both JP and Alex have full course experience (I don't know about Neil) sleep and resupply strategies will be very entertaining.
