Pretty inspiring. When I'm approaching 60, I hope I'm in half as good of shape.
No joke. An inspiration to us all. -dp

I'm interested in JayP's change of heart from Ti to Carbon. The Cutthroat is not a very appealing bike for someone like me. Guess that's why Surly make Ogres!

Tell Connor to hang in there. Last year, Calvin Decker came through Ovando somewhere around 15th-20th place and then proceeded to pass everyone but Jefe. Granted, an injury makes it a little bit different, but a lot can change in the next 10-15 days of racing.
I have a sinking feeling Connor is out for this year. Family is picking him up and taking him to see a doctor. He didn't come right out and say it just now, but you could see it in his eyes. But definitely "He'll Be Back".

That's a bummer Connor is out, he's got quite an interesting story on his site for those interested. Good luck Connor, next year.

Yeah, there are a few things that'd keep it from being a go-to long range(r), long-term bikepacking bike, like the potential for bag-wear damage to the frame, press-fit BB that not all shops can fix, non field-repairable frame, outboard drivetrain mandatory (no single-speed or internal possible), etc. but if Salsa wanted to give me one for next year's TDR, I'd probably take my chances with it. And it may be more Salsa's idea to bring the carbon to market than Jay's but I'm sure we'll get a report afterward. Interesting bike, though.

Connor O'Leary has left the building. Mom and Dad picked him up to go get his knee looked at. He seemed in good spirits albeit devastated about leaving the race at this junction. But he'll be back, possibly next year.

In and out of Ovando: Joe Fox, Missouri who met up a several miles ago with Greg Galway, New Zealand. Feeling the pain and loving Ibuprofen. Evan Wulff of New Zealand, who is just along for the ride! Came into the Stray Bullet for several meals in one.
Close behind them was Martin Vitt of the Czech Republic, who left before them after having a quick bite.
Carry on!

Robert Orr of Colorado came into Ovando around 3:30, quick snack and back out again. Wants to tell his fellow Coloradan JayP: "See ya at home since I won't be seeing you on the trail!"

Here are some pics that I'd posted on FB. Former TD'er Blane Nester is thrown in because he happened to be camping at Boulton Creek Campground!

That's funny. It looks like Neil is the only one talking to JayP!

From 4:30 til now it has been a steady stream into Ovando Montana with: - Robert Orr, Colorado - Andres Bonelli, Uruguay - Aaron Gardner of Idaho - Rob Davidson of New Zealand who was nice enough to help...... - Michele Miani of Italy who arrived unexpectedly since his GPS showed him just outside of Canada for the last 24+ hours. Rob got it back on track and Michele is now "starting the race from Ovando!" :-)

Continuing with the 4:30 rush:
- Ryan Hamilton of British Columbia who had the right idea with the warming temps to have a giant ice cream - Brendan Heinig of Massachusetts who is very happy with his cross bike.

FOUND Bike computer - SERFAS Level 1.1 Found by TD racer from Sacramento (possibly William Scheel?) on Goat Creek Trail, approx. 44 minutes / 8.6 miles into the race according to info on computer. He left computer at Boulton Creek Store, where I picked it up. PM me to let me know if it's yours (or know who lost it), I'll mail it back to you. Cheers! .../JP I believe the equipment belongs to Aaron Gardner. I get confused when they arrive in bunches. Whoever it was....laughed when he saw the poster. Thanked everybody for being so good about trying to find the owner, but says it was only a $20 piece of equipment and it would cost more in time, trouble and postage to get it back to him. So please do with it what ever you wish. Again thank you!

Great Divide Cyclery in Helena shout out for 'great service' on the Tour Divide 2015 - Steve gave Dylan's bike a quick tune and a new chain (it was new less than 3 weeks ago but already at 75%). No wonder his knee caps are hurting. Fueled and fixed Dylan sounded excited to be on his way to Butte after some preventative maintenance done in a flash.

Great job, Angler! Love seeing everyone going through Ovando! Next year maybe I can make there and catch the racers coming through.

Dave Hoswell of Australia, Andy Laycock or England and Lukas Ausfachlager of Switzerland have arrived in Ovando and went straight to Trixi's for dinner.
Rebecca, Dave says Hi !! and tell him I'm sorry but the camera battery went dead just as I was taking their photos. Which means I didn't get their photos. And yes I feel terrible about it.
However he and Lukas are contemplating staying the night in Ovando so I may get another shot at it tomorrow morning.
Carry on!
