And the last but not least photos in only alpha order out of Ovando are:

and had to laugh. A very normal site:  lunch and I-pads.  My bandwidth would plummet to zero when they would arrive.

That may do it for tonight
Thank you
and Carry ON!

Bummer..........my husband Doug Wenger stayed in Ovando last night.  Was hoping to see a pic of him....

yea me too.  He and Elliott were on my list to photo and they came after I left and left before I came in.  Happens as I don't live in my shop.  :-)  Wish I could come up with a plan to take photos at 3 am et al, but just can't seem to find a volunteer for that shift.

So very sorry!

Angler - you should set up an after-hours photo booth with a sign: Your loved ones want to see you. Sit and smile.

I bet you'd come away with some pretty classic photos. Smiley

Interesting turn of events in Helena for the pink dots: Lael W at the hospital as prev mentioned, Alice D at the bike shop for 45min+ now, and Bethany D appears to have stop to eat ... looking to see what happens next.

Not sure why it appears Neil B to have slowed down and others not so much ... some 5-20min catnaps here and there is my guess (?)

I am probably gonna quit
90% sure
Bailed sideways off stemple pass bottom
Flat
Pedals done
I completely bonked after no sleep
Heat got me bad
I don't have any motivation anymore
??
It went quick on me
Real quick

It looks like no back to bak triples for
Me

I am cool either way
Which is a shock I thought I would be bummed
But 11 in a row - last 5 consecutive
Is enough

I tried my hardest ever- it was too fast
But I have done it do many times the conservative way I don't want to do tha

I want everyone to know how much you have all meant to
Me during this streak
Priceless

Mark,

FWIW, Please don't quit. Meeting and riding with you last year gave me so much. Your sense of humor, your candor and your drive made me a better racer, hell you made me a better person. Please take a day and rest re-evaluate tomorrow.

Sitting here hoping you reconsider, Your so far ahead of last year you can take a day or more and still beat it by days.

Respectfully,

Steve

I know my travels around Spray Lake, Boulton, and Sparwood pale in comparison to what you are going through out there. But I was frustrated about getting down the route and had to reroute myself. Then took a wrong turn which set me back even more from intersecting the racers. But something you said during our interview echoed in my mind: "It's only temporary." I kept telling myself that. Wrong turn, road closures, getting a late start down the route. Frustrations. Only temporary! That said, you've been there and done that. You know what you can do and you know what your goals are.

My first trip here (I think) and first post. When I registered I got access to the pictures (thanks Angler!!!). Living vicariously for my rookie attempt in '17 - will be my late 50th birthday present.

Just so you know, I received most of my social media training from Scott Thigpen (the audience groans  icon_biggrin). Sorry, we have this FB bromance thingy going. Or maybe it's just me.

Anyway, like bikepacking isn't addictive enough, blue-bubbling is really addictive. As everyone has said, best wishes and tailwinds and downhills for all racers! And in honor of my buddy Scott McConnell, Pedal On.

I thought about you the other day driving through BC after leaving the border. Passed some place called "Honcho" something. I think it was a campground. I almost turned around and went back for a pic but I was chasing darkness to get back to Banff.

Okay I said I was done for the night but I guess I lied.  These next photos were sent to me by Trixi's from last night.  There are no names attached so if you can identify these happy folks would appreciate a shout out so that I can add their names.

Update:  Photo number 2 is indeed  Lael Wilcox!

Now Carry On!

Great to see all of the smiling faces in Ovando. Although, I think it's impossible not to be smiling after all of the hospitality everyone shows towards the riders in Ovando. Thanks Angler and everyone else in Ovando.  thumbsup

The ride itself is amazing, but the towns like Ovando take the whole experience up to another level.

#‎TourDivide15‬ - David Horton called in to say he is OUT. He’s not feeling well. And Mark Caminiti called in from Helena He’s contemplating his next move but is very frustrated.

Hi everyone. I am absolutely loving this years TD. However...
I have a question that I'm sure many of you may have already considered.
What do you think about the use of drop bars and cyclocross bikes in what is considered a mountainbike race?

The road surfaces might be too much to tolerate on a cross bike, especially in NM with all of the washboard. I don't think people would have an issue with someone riding a cross bike. It's a bike race so any bike counts in my opinion.

Don't bail man, you're crushing it out there. Just get a good night sleep and reevaluate in the morning.
