I envision Lael Wilcox as the female embodiment of Cjell Money. There is such a joy and natural talent to their racing. Do yourself a favor and visit Lael's blog, as well as her partner Nicholas's (Gypsy by Trade.)

The TD leaders passed through the Grasshopper Valley yesterday. Jay P. was the first to our lodge with Neil B. about 200 yards behind. Next was Alex H., Seb D., Josh K., Dylan T. and spending the night at Montana High Country Lodge or should I say taking a short 4 hour nap was Ryan C.

I hope all is well with Larry B. he's backtracking north towards Swan Lake on pavement.
Anyone know that spot he's at? Maybe searching for a mechanical fix??

The guy who built Neil's wheelset noticed that it looks like he's missing some spokes up front -- anybody have any intel on that?

Playing catch up: Been a crazy day with scratches, illnesses and "counseling". :-) But more on that later.
The following were from Trixi's last night. Again, except for Katie from MISSOULA MONTANA! I do not know who these folks are. Names would be appreciated.
More later Gator!
Carry on!

I just swapped messages with his girlfriend and she said they talked a good bit last night and he didn't mention it...so I'm hoping it's just a trick of the camera or something. Four of the top six riders are 40+! Just think how fast some of these younger riders will be when they're 40+

How many of them (with or without beards currently) will have beards by the time they hit Antelope wells though?

+1 to Ezster's comment. The Rez gave me the creeps in 2013. I was going to try and bust through it at night while the temps were cool, but I got freaked out about drunk drivers and some guys slowing down and checking me out as they passed. Sleeping on the Rez can feel sketch too!
I rode through the Rez at night. All the bud light cans and the vodka bottles on the side of the road kinda freaked me out.

Noticing a few of the riders seem to be making a wrong-turn at the base of Stemple Pass and headed up and over. My buddy Troy Hopwood looks to have lost time there today and Jean Michel Monot looks to have been wandering in the area before finally kicking out to the highway. http://trackleaders.com/tourdivide15i.php?name=Jean_Michel_MonotFor those who have ridden it, is that a particularly tricky portion of the course?

Stemple Pass turning: There is a sign mentioned in the cues but the sign cannot be seen coming from Lincoln - obvious when you backtrack. This happens most years to a few riders. One of the problems is that it looks like you are turning into somebodies property and easy to miss.

Since you brought it up, the danger is real , so lets not forget those who had aspirations of completing this race but didn't and hope for safe passage of all the riders this year. http://circumburke.org/dave-blumenthal/

Thanks for the explanation. Figured it was something like that. It's so easy to mistake turns out there sometimes.

I'm able to zoom in without too much loss of resolution and it looks like the spokes are there. I think the light is playing tricks.

I'm leaning towards camera tricks, as Seb D and Dylan T pics have sim 'phantom spoke' effect in their respective rear wheels. Not quite as 'phantom' as in the Neil B pic, but there. Fascinating.
