Wow! Six within 60 miles up front and all still in front of the JayP record. Amazing riding out there.

I'm curious about the story behind the stick on the Mirko Haeckers bar bag ... is it to fend off wild animals or hold something together??

Dogs? Someone could open a roadside stand in Cuba selling these for running the dog gauntlet down the road.  They also make a great emergency tent pole, splint, or use it to prop your head up (between forehead and bar bag) once you get to New Mexico.  Act now and get a free stick for scraping mud out of your chainstays!

I am a bit worried though because Josh K. and Dylan T. did not seem to get much sleep last night.  I hope they don't burn themselves out.

Looks like they made a solid move last night.  They're racing!  As a native Washingtonian who stills spends a lot of time in the Lake Wenatchee area, I'm rooting for JoshK.

As the Gunnison/Crested Butte valley has sent out many riders for the past 4-5 years and I live here I have to go for Neil! The young gun underdog! And if he can get the record the valley will have the M/F record holders if Eszter dot can hold on. Eszter was living here then so it counts!  thumbsup Of course it would be fun to see someone in 3nd -5th make a push in the next state to overtake.

Surprised that there aren't odds set in Las Vegas. Or maybe there is? 3:1 JP, 5:1 Neil at the halfway point? Remember this is just an exhibition. Please no wagering.

I think we should also give a shout out to the NoBo riders. Kevin Jacobsen is having a great ride! Golden spoke looks like it might be around Brush Mountain Lodge again!

I have a question about the NoBo riders. They don't seem to be listed on the leaderboard based on their milage. Is this a trackleader problem or are they not judged the same way as GD SoBo? Saul Britton is now in Atlantic City, 1325 miles into his NoBo ride. Where does this place him in the race? Thanks.

Saul Britton went off course. If you look at his track, you see he didn't do the part from Steamboat Lake to Wamsutter, because he got lost. So he'd be nowhere on the leaderboard.

Sorry for the silence in Ovando but wasn't in town yesterday.  My friends made sure to take photos and names so will be downloading soon.  But currently I am riding down memory lane with Tracy Burge and her posse of Carolyn McClintock and Jess.

Back at it shortly!

"Tight at the front of the pink dot race, with Bethany D very consistent with her daily 4am/5am wake-up-and-ride approach, having caught Lael W today after Lael looks to have rested for 8+ hours last night.  Alice D on the single speed, as tough and solid as she is, will find some spinning out in the long flat-ish Big Sky country and Great Basin roads for the next several days.  Eleanor M and Jill H just another 2-4hrs back.  Yes, tight."

i nabbed the quote above, because the women are indeed putting on quite a show out there!  also it should be noted that both Alice and Eleanor are rolling single, and leading that catagory too!!

Whoa, I'm just now realizing the route doesn't go through Rawlins this year... by a long shot. Is this among the larger of (non-fire related) reroutes in recent years?

Full services in Wamsutter?

Do the riders have any sense of where their competition is on the course??
Currently, 1st and 2nd are only separated by roughly 10 miles.  Are they both aware of this?

Awesome Race!

Considering JayP is posting selfies on Facebook, I imagine he is also checking Trackleaders!

I would think it'd be hard to eff-around online too much when you have a dude right on your tail trying to hunt you down.
Of course I'm not JP...

Not fire related, but reroute due to high traffic and construction thru the old route.  If I remember correctly a wind farm is being constructed in that area.  Also major road construction (maybe south of Rawlins?) last year that must be continuing this year.

Apparently big Truck Stop at Wamsutter and more gravel/dirt on this new route compared to prior.  But some pretty remote navigation thru the new route as well.  Could be interesting for some to find their way.

It's a little warm and windy down the road in Rawlins. Get your chapstick on!

Anyone know what happened to Jill Homer? Can't find her dot on TL. Hope she's okay.
