Several of our old TD friends stopped by the Montana High Country Lodge today.  The weather has been very, very favorable for riding so some TD riders are pressing on across the Bannack Bench road while it is good on their way to Lima.  So unfortunately we missed getting photos of some, sorry!

Forgot to post photos of some former TD riders racing the Trans Am right now.  I took them when they came through the Grasshopper valley early in the race.

The line of riders is getting smaller every day.   But that doesn't make them any less interesting.  Possibly the opposite.

Arriving and departing Ovando on Friday June 19th may we introduce:

Berto Villa of Leon Mexico and the return of the Fabulous Alessi Brothers of Italy.  Where else?  How can you not remember them from 3 years ago and they have not changed.  Still working hard and enjoying life harder.

Joining them for lunch was Peter Viol, a Waterloo Ontario Police Officer riding for the Cancer Center of Grand River Ontario.

And Jim Stansbury of MD arrived around 5 pm and decided to spend the night at the Inn.

And lastly for June 19th:

SoBo girls meet NoBo Girls when Lisa Downing of Alberta and Rosemary Lee of British Columbia ran into Carolyn McClintock, Tracy Burge and Jess Evans of OH.

Lisa and Rose surprised the heck out of me when they came into Ovando as I thought I saw them far south earlier in the week.  Alas I was not losing my mind.  They hopscotched thru several states due to time limitations and previous illnesses that set them back

Must say do like Lisa's Cookie Monster bike shirt.

And that is it for today!  Did leave Ovando this evening with a full house of "tourist" cyclists taking over the camping areas.  It is all good.

Til tomorrow
Carry On!

Here's hoping that Lael has a smart phone, a signal, and checks Trackleaders in the morning.

Looks like a good decision realizing something's not quite right to stop and take a break. Lael seems only a few miles off route on paved road this is nothing unusual nor horrible during TD

Having finally caught up with Jay P at 2am, Neil should sleep like a baby tonight. Well done!

Going to be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.

Lael is riding over Union Pass, oops. So I guess she's using 2014 route details and will take the Rawlins route also unless she finds out on the road about the new route. Similar mistakes have happened in the past and Matt Lee got the riders to sit out a penalty period when the route taken was faster than the new route.

Being an underground race it is something that can easily happen to anyone.

If you want to challenge the current record, follow the same route. Seems to make sense to me.

TD racer Doug Wenger (my husband) reports that Squirrel Creek Guest Lodge located in Idaho on route along Ashton Flagg Ranch Road is open late and WELCOMES Tour Dividers. 24 Hr notice not needed

Stayed at Squirell Creek last year, I loves me some Zack and Grandpa. Great hospitality, a good dinner, laughs, and plenty of room to pitch a tent for a few dollars or they have beds for rent for the night.

I'm sitting in Butte at the outdoorsman with some stuffed bb bearings that don't seem to exist round here. Add the two days I sat in kalispell with a knee problem the doc gave me some good medication for. It feels like I'll never finish this race. Going to try badbeaver bikes and poss change out the whole crank set. 'Frustrated' is an understatement!

Well, that's a bummer.

I think the Flathead is a Matt Lee invention too, at least the single track connector (?). If I have my GDMBR history right, I think Matt Lee makes a lot of "suggestions" to the ACA about route changes, some they seem to pass on Wink

I saw Lael's route was off the marked line, is this a valid course detour?
