Neil Beltchenko has a vid of his setup over on bikepackersmagazine.com

And fyi, he has a Strava account with some pics.

May be a rookie, but safe to say he's seen some of the terrain...

and he also has the extremely valuable insight and guidance of a certain Jefe Branham.....these two guys and their bikepacking efforts and insight are highly dangerous (in a good way)....

I'm digging the lead pack dynamics. Alex Harris (6th) is only 70 miles back from Jay Petervary.... then no one for over 250 miles. All six are ahead of Jay's previous record. Neil keeps closing the gap with Jay... then Jay pulls away.

Props to all these tough as nails competitors.

Props to everyone still riding. Keep on keepin' on, Jim Trumpey.

Lael Wilcox has moved into the top 10 overall! Very impressive ride after some rough days early on. She is about 100 miles ahead of the Women's record.

Another interesting tidbit: Neil B. has a short review of the Salsa Cutthroat on bikepackersmagazine.com!

Very impressive riding going on out there this year, I'm loving following it.

JayP hasn't moved in 45 minutes (10:36 EST).  I hope that's a signal error.

I really hope age and treachery win this one! but either way, these guys are putting on quite a race.

I would say that any of the top 6 could probably pursue a road career if they wanted to make some money, what they are doing is not normal.

Agree, young Will Bodewes is riding at a maturity level well beyond his 17 years as is younger brother Luke at 16 years. They rode together for the first 4-5 days before Will said seeyalater and has gapped the young fella by 175 miles. Seems like these young men and another younger sibling Noah 14 toured the route with their Dad last year..... great parenting!

I noticed that.  I wonder who's buying?

They do look to be in a neutral zone. Hey, if this comes down to these two going at it, I could see them dumping gear to lighten up. Interesting thought.

Loving this forum!

I wonder how much sleep the leaders have been getting - they look a lot less wasted than the leaders of years past.

If this keeps up they're going to need a camera for a photo finish.

This build up makes a pretty good case for building a velodrome in Antelope Wells!

Please note this not intended to take anything away from Neil B. and his unbelievable efforts...keeping Jay within his sights this far into it. Much respect for Neil and his ability - he's certainly making this an exciting race.
However, considering the absolute brilliant marketing move by Salsa to unveil a new TD-bred whip on the eve of this year's event, along with JayP piloting it, I'm convinced Jay will prevail if he stays healthy and the Cutthroat continues to perform without any growing pains. Can't say I would've done it any differently (introduction of the Cutthroat).  thumbsup

Mind-blowing performance by everyone in this race so far.

I'm not usually glued to Trackleaders, but this is like watching Froome and Contador slug it out.
Awesome show!

So for those that have done it, how much does knowing the course help in the last 3rd?
