Yay Josh Kato! I am so excited for him this morning! He says he is still having fun, and that is the point of all this right?

A HUGE Thank You to all the TD riders that stopped at the Montana High Country Lodge. We are not quite done as there are a few riders still moving that might stop in.
A special thank you to Joe Polk and Matthew Lee for all you do to make the TD a success.
It is time for me to GO FISHING!

A big thank you to Russ, Angler, and anyone else who has posted photos of the riders. It really helps bring the event to life for those of us who can't be there.

I hope it's not too late but... G'day T, Knees failed me in a way that made last years knee issues look positively easy. 5 days off the bike and I'm still not able to walk properly. I couldn't race to my fullest extent; taking time off every day or so to rest up wasn't an option...I would've been relegated to touring. Best course was to leave the route before I did some permanent damage. Greetz S.

Russ,
Thank you for all of the great pictures that you posted! And for being so hospitable to all of the racers that come through year after year. If and when I come back to the TDR I'll defiantly make a stop at the High Country lodge for some food and maybe some sleep.
Cheers! Phil :-)

"defiantly"? Sounds a bit drastic.

Spot dots show Jay and Neil at Bode's early, waiting for it to open, then Josh rolling up to Bodes before 7am. Chances are they had a 'meeting'. Fist bumps all around, I hope. Spot dots show Neil and Jay leaving Abiquiu (~7:10am) 30mins before Josh (~7:40am). Approximately 500miles to go. Josh stopped early last night, so is on 6 to 6.5hrs rest, just about same about of rest for Neil/Jay. Although hotel rest maybe better?
DylanT 45miles back as of 10:15am, with AlexH another 25miles back of DylanT.
And then there's LaelW ... she's just riding awesome, and just moved into 6th, by spinning past Sargents while the 3 boys she was catching up to yesterday stop for food/provisions.
And 17yo WillB now just outside the top10 in 11th, followed closely by the ageless RobertO (who took an entire zero day in Butte, remember?) in 13th, and don't count out ElliotD (yeah, buddy!) not much further back in 14th putting together a solid ride coming from way back in the pack and steadily making up ground each day. Wow. I'm in awe of this year's cast of riders.
At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Seb found a way to get a new fork in Chama, or sent there, and got back on course.

This has been great to follow as always and without Trackleaders.com and MTBcast.com it would be a long wait to pick up blogs and posts of what went down. They've got a DONATE button on their pages and this year I for one am certainly going to click it. I'd hate to see this coverage disappear.

Neil, Jay P, Josh, what a battle, but how about Lael? Let's give her some props man, rode from Anchorage to the start, got sick during the beginning and is now top 6? C'mon, that's MASSIVE!
Uh, I would assume that sales for Walty bikes just took a turn with Seb Dunne's crash, heartbreaking to hear the news but super happy he's not severely injured. What a run he had. Goes to show anything can happen on the Divide.

Neil and Jay slept on the porch of a building - not in beds. I thought that with the reroute this year the total mileage was down almost by 100 miles - I think they have just under 400 miles to go! Maybe I am wrong.

So no hotel/bed sleep so far the entire route? Style points! Looking at TL track, btwn Abiquiu and AW, there's ~570miles of track to pedal.

If the race would be 600 miles longer I guess Lael would also catch up the guys at the front
