I had a bit of time over the weekend and decided to camp along the route between Abiquiu and Cuba. About 15 miles up Polvadera Mesa as it turns out. I caught Ryan Correy on the way up on Saturday about 7.30.The next morn got a fellow from NZ, I thought he said his name was Evan (but can't find an Evan on the racer list) just before 5am. Then Marshall Bird at 5.30.

Seems silly to me that at least a mention of the route change wasn't made well known at Banaff prior to the grand depart. Perhaps she could have even updated her GPS track.

On the way past the Abiquiu Inn I caught Seb and Beth Dunne leaving and here's a couple shots as they passed my camp the next morn at 5.45 Sunday.

I rode up to the next intersection FR144 and on the way down met Lukas Aufschlager about 9.30. On my way into Cuba I caught Lukas on the last hill just before Cuba after the afternoon winds had started.

I've been watching Rob Davidson's painfully slow progress through the Gila today and am wondering if he is having some mechanical troubles, or if the rain has turned the earth to peanut butter.

Hello everyone from sunny, magical Pie Town, NM! I haven't even begun to dig into the pages and pages of this discussion yet but I understand there was a lot of well wishes and cheering going on. I just wanted to drop you all a quick note to say thank you. My blue dot could almost feel the positive energy coming from you all. I'm excited to see all the craziness that occurred on the forum once I re-enter into cyber-connected-society. For now I'll be eating more pie and relaxing at the absolutely marvelous Toaster House. Pie Town is truly magical. The locals and the pie are well worth the visit. As to the question of what pie I ate the day before the final showdown... It's a trade secret but let me assure you Kathy's pie at Pie-o-neer Pies very well might have been the deciding factor in my race.
Cheers to you all! Happy trails and best wishes to everyone on trail and congratulations to everyone who has finished. Josh Kato

The word on the street is your third piece of pie on the way down made the difference. Well done. Long live pie.

Congrats to you, Jay and Neil and to all of the other racers. What a great finish you had to such an incredible race, turning on the afterburners at the very end. This year will not only go down in the records books but it will be memorable for such a wild and crazy finish to an action packed race, all the way from start to finish. And 3 pieces of pie was the difference.
