I can't comment on the current condition of the trail but it would be nice if they cleared the ST. That was one sweet descent.

On another note, is anyone aware of Guy Martin's intentions? He isn't listed on the Trackleaders tracking page yet.

I think I saw Guy Martin walking around Banff today. Looking forward to cheering everyone on at the start on Friday (Im hoping to ride next year!).

Good luck everyone!

Based on the speed that Jeff Lodge went thru Richmond Peak, he couldn't have hit much snow or deadfall across the trail.  Seemed like a normal/decent pace to me.

Also, based on upper 90 degree temps in Kalispell, I imagine that mile of snow at Red Meadow should be much smaller by Sunday when riders are first hitting it.

If you had to put together your top 10 this year... who would your money be on with the current start list?

Made it to eureka! It was freakin hot on Galton pass!!  The route is in perfect condition. No trees on the service roads, no snow, a mile or so of river to ride/walk coming into flathead. Had company at Butts. Mike, who had trouble signing up his spot, and about 50 tree planters camping near by. Tyga helped us out with water. Next stop whitefish.

I'm on the route (first timer) a week after the grand depart. Sounds like a great report.
Thanks

Great work!  I was watching your Spot all day.  "Freakin hot", eh?  In 2012 there was miles of snow on Galton with no place to even sit down.  You never know what you're going to get.  Best of luck going forward!

Anybody know what's up with Terry Smith?  Looks like he took the Smith-Dorrien around Spray Reservoir.

Took a ride up to upper whitefish lake last night, didn't have the time to make it to red meadow but in talking to some folks up there it sounds like there won't be much snow at all this year. Yesterday there wasn't any snow till right before the pass. Its been  quite hot the last few days and with rain and averageish temps coming that mile should be decreased a bunch.

The state has been grading the road above whitefish lake and between the dry conditions and lack of washboard for the lower section its riding better and faster than in years. A little rain will help it firm up the material too.

looking forward to seeing the front runners coming by my house Saturday

Looks like he missed the right turn into the forest at the top of the climb out of Elkford as well. Maybe he doesn't have the latest .gpx? (But both those routes were in last years race file)

He's riding at a super hot pace.  Hopefully he is just doing his own thing.

I'm on route, touring WY/CO.

The pass after Brush Mountain Lodge into Clark has about 3 miles of hiking in snow.

Lynx, Gore, and Ute are clear. Had reports from NoBo tourists that Boreas is clear. I'm heading up that way tomorrow.

Of note: Rock Creek, after Lynx, is super swollen. Thigh deep, very swift. We crossed after some deliberation, but it took both of us to carry each bike.

Could be an issue for racers. An easy detour exists on Hwy 134.

Red Meadow has almost no snow. Took me about 20 minutes to walk thru. 1 big pine tree down. Just walked around it.

Weather is looking decent up there.
Sparwood, Canada as of 5:02 am MDT 57° Partly Cloudy feels like 56° H 69° / L 45°
The trend seems to be lows in the 40's and highs in the 60's

Wow!
