Terry Smith lost about 60-90 minutes coming off Red Meadow above Whitefish by taking the wrong road.  Bummer to have that happen when you are expecting a town so close (and food).  But, he has been rolling along quickly.

Some late advice to all FWIW - run your map screen all the time in the first 4-5 days. There are many other roads and turns that will catch you out. Also, run on a 100-200 metre scale and have a VERY CLOSE look to see that you are on route before you start descending any hills!

Good luck out there and have fun!

Time for one last beer before the GD! Good luck riders starting tomorrow, already out there, or starting a bit later!

Keep it real, be safe, and grow the authenticity of the race!

Thanks for posting that, Tractormann. Brought back memories of the 2015 start when I lived in Calgary and went to Banff for the GD. I wasn't there for this year's start but will follow the dots from Kentucky.

I received a text from David from the start. He forgot his down jacket in Phoenix and had to go buy one before getting on route. He'll be fine. Sparwood first night, Eureka night two.

No, he was up front and his GPS tracked to that mountain.  Then went silent.  He might have turned it off as he has done in the past.
