Well now that's rich, I don't even see him at ALL! I'll bet his batteries died on his spot tracker. Initials are DP, last seen as 46 miles from the border, on the Canadian side.

Try not to worry too much. Spots have a way of going dark and coming back and even "spotting" unusually far from the track sometimes.

As Joe said, the Spots are far from cutting edge. They drop out or a shielded by trees/buildings/bags etc all the time. Batteries go flat and a rider might not notice for most of the day. Making sure the little green light is still blinking away is about number 83 on their 'priority list". Also, Dave isn't out there on his own. They are surrounded by other riders. He will be fine and having the time of his life. Easier said than done, but try to enjoy the show.

(Scott, is the 20 day marker an algorithym or is it based on a previous racer? If so, whom?)
Ah, I see now.... I wasn't fishing, just that I was using an iPad and didn't click the Flags. At least I feel involved this year.....

I am following the 2016 tour divide race with interest as my son raced last year. For David Philips wife, I live not far from the Rooseville border crossing and have been in the area where her husband's bubble is located. There is a backcountry campsite right there with picnic tables and a toilet. It appears at last look that three or four have stopped. It may be for dinner or even to camp, as it is 1 hour from dark here.

Hey there! This is David Phillips's wife, I'm seeing he hasn't "pinged" for about 50 minutes and I'm getting a little worried. He is about 45-40 miles north of the Canadian/US border, any advice?
Never mind...just pinged. Oh Lord Keep everyone SAFE! Damn, wives have to worry! But it's all awesome.
Hi, It's Steve. Im certain he's camping at Wigwam. Thats right where his dot is. Don't worry, I'm sure he's fine. PM coming

If you scroll on his name on the roster on the right, his dot will bounce. His dot is hiding behind others camped at Wigwam

Hi All. Sorry for the delay but do want to report the following riders safely and happily arrived and left Ovando. I can't post photos currently as I left the camera with the Ovando Inn so they could take photos tonight for late comers. Those that we saw were:
3rd Place: Liam Crowley, Australia, who spent some time at the BCC with ice packs on his knees. And as I currently look at his spot it appears he didn't get too far out of town. But then I think he is possibly having spotter trouble as prior to arriving to Ovando his spotter was stuck for over 1 hour on Monture Road while he was in Ovando.
Liam mentioned he lost his phone on the route. If anybody finds one between Canada and Ovando let him know.
4th Place: Stefan Maertens, Belgium, arrived like a whirlwind. We reminisced about last year. He cracked us up. His English is pretty darn good with a heavy accent making it difficult to understand him 100%; however his expletive deletives were very coherent. And he was beyond shocked at his current placement in the race.
5th Place Tie: Garath Pellas or Australia, Chris Plesko of Colorado and Sofiane Sehili of France came in and left together as the 3 Muskateers.
6th Place: Andrew Kulmatiski of Utah arrived after I left but I saw him on the road so can vouch that he made it.
Also know that Joe Fox of MO was arriving and staying the night at the Ovando Inn.
More stories and photos tomorrow. Carry On!
