Kudos to all of the reports and pictures. It really helps to see what the conditions are like and how people have set up their rigs... Alas, I'll only get to see them for 2 more days though. Wed I fly to Calgary, shuttle to Banff and Friday I head South...

Dot-stalker for a couple of years, first-time poster.
Hal Russell is just a joy to see on the route, with the big smile on his face. I anticipate his call-ins to MTBCast, because it seems I always hear how much he loves riding and meeting people and just having a great time.
He's so incredibly positive...love it!!

Does anyone know what happened to Guy Martin? I read where he was seen in Banff, but his name isn't on the list and I'm wondering if he scratched before the start.

I wonder if Mike Hall is charging his Di2 from his dynamo? Brave move to go for electronic shifting in the TD!

There was at least one rider that used Di2 on last year's TD...the name escapes me at the moment. But yeah, with all the climbing and gear changes (to say nothing of the expense), that's a point of failure I'd think pretty hard about before adding to the mix. It doesn't appear to be slowing him down so far.

Hi, new kid here, from the UK Mike Hall rode first big distance on Di2 on Trans Am race i think, he actaully went out to see how many miles he could do on a single charge and completed the 4000+ miles.
He has a spare Di2 battery with him i think from the limited kit he does take, amazes me that he needs less than i do for a single night away!

I still couldn't do it. When that power goes there's zero shifting, as I understand it. OTOH, I'm probably going to be in granny so much who needs to shift?

Lael Wilcox is on the Trans Am - had Di2 battery go out a couple of days into the race. Has spare and charged the first one that night. TWO women in the Trans Am leader pack, by the way!

And once the Race is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the Race is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the Race, you won't be the same person who rode in. That's what the Race is all about.

I hear a few riders were having an issues at the turnoff onto Corbin Road off the Crowsnest Highway. The road used to look like this (current route GPX overlaid in red): However the old road no longer meets the highway and that whole section has concrete barriers along the roadside instead you can only get onto it easily via the switchback a bit further along the road: Google Maps View Streetview (last Fall)

Oh yes, that's where I did my knee in a few years back, I hopped over the road barrier and scrambled down a steep embankment, twisting something on the way down, thinking that the trail was running parallel to the road and I should be down there, only to discover that the road layout had changed since the gpx!

I hope I didn't miss posts on these topics but I am wondering if anyone knows about Seb Dunne or Rob Brown. Looks like Rob may have gotten a ride into Helena this morning and Seb seems to be stuck at Holland Lake. I hope Seb just has a spot issue and is still going. He had such bad luck last year with his fork, I was hoping he would make it through without problems this year.
Also loved seeing the pics of Hal Russell, he is one of my favorites and his call-ins are always so positive! Josh's mom is a big fan, Josh jokes that she is rooting for Hal more than Josh. "Green Gloves Guy" looks like he is having a blast as well, does anyone know who he is?

Thanks Scott. That gives a great perspective to how fast they are FLYING so far this year! On another note, is Guy Martin running tracking? Or running under a pseudonym? It would be great for us dot watchers to see his progress though I do understand he might be worried about stalkers re his semi celeb status. He is in the US and not the UK though. (Has the average American ever heard of him?) A simple yes or no answer would be enough for me if a cloak of secrecy is required. Pardon my ignorance but who is Guy Martin?
