I hope I didn't miss posts on these topics but I am wondering if anyone knows about Seb Dunne or Rob Brown. Looks like Rob may have gotten a ride into Helena this morning and Seb seems to be stuck at Holland Lake. I hope Seb just has a spot issue and is still going. He had such bad luck last year with his fork, I was hoping he would make it through without problems this year.
Also loved seeing the pics of Hal Russell, he is one of my favorites and his call-ins are always so positive! Josh's mom is a big fan, Josh jokes that she is rooting for Hal more than Josh. "Green Gloves Guy" looks like he is having a blast as well, does anyone know who he is?
Someone back on page 10 posted Seb is out with an illness That's a shame...

Plesko seems to be crushing out there in the SS cat. - if I'm reading the map right, he's in front of Kato's record time from last year. And, so is Kato!

Here are this mornings photos from yesterday of those that made it to Ovando, MT:
- Liam Crowley, Australia, that man with the sore knees but carrying on. When asked about the bear situation thru Montana he did state he had a large Grizzly stand up and wave at him along the route. Okay maybe the waving is a stretch, but it got him to do a record pace for about a mile. And again, he has lost his phone on the route.
- Stefan Maertens of Belgium. His energy was infectious. Was glad there was sun block available as he forgot his and was wearing leggings and arm bands to keep back the sun and was sweating like a stuck pig. Unfortunately can't say the same for his face which was pretty in pink.
continued on next post....

- Sofiane Sehili of France, Chris Plesko of CO, and Gareth Pellas of Australia. who rode in and out together. Confirmed that Seb Dunne of Australia had taken ill at Holland Lake Lodge and said he had been driven to the city for assistance. Can't imagine how frustrating to train so hard, travel so far and yet leave after only 2 days.
- Joe Fox of Missouri arrived in Ovando around 10 pm and spent the night on a soft bed at the Inn but left first thing in the morning.
Missed photos due to going straight out of town or in the middle of the night: - Kevin Jacobsen our Bozite from Bozeman, MT and - Brian Alder of New Zealand
Looks like more about to arrive. Til then. Carry on!

More from Ovando Montana playing catch up.
Arthur Kopatsy arrived in the early morning hours with a very sore knee. After breakfast and a lot of icing of said knee, he decided to get some rest at the Ovando Inn to see if that helps. Hoping for the best. And when he revives will get more photos of him. In the mean time here is Arthur walking his over.
carry on!

I believe you are correct, as the gent in red is my uncle Jean and he mentioned he was cycling with dieter. So glad to see all the happy smiles despite the weather.

I can confirm that is Dieter with the green gloves. Nice guy. Told me it was his birthday and asked me to send him the photo. .../James P. (Hurtin Albertan)

From posts and call ins it seems like there is a lot of bear activity and sightings this year. Seems like more than last year.

Yes, can confirm this. Rode with him across Germany some years ago. Fancy Gloves. Thanks to the locals for all your great news.

Live from Ovando, Montana we present to you this afternoon's entries:
- Dave Rooney of Zimbabwe [altho he says he listed Ontario as his home base cuz there wasnt a listing for Zimbabwe] arrived in great spirits and left the same. His first couple of days didn't go as planned with mechanical failures right and left with his shifter, hub and tires. But now he feels like he is on track. Oh and if you see Dave tell him his lost water bottle was found on the trail and dropped off with me. Not that he will want it back but shows you the honesty of these folks.
- Arthur Kopatsy of CA via France is still working on a bad knee. Said he came upon Brian Alder and Rob Brown last night until Rob was shuttled to Helena for a reported dog bite? Arthur's knee is a bit stiff and swollen and sore. He is going to give it a rest for today with a lot of ice, rest, small walks and anti-inflammatories and re-evaluate tomorrow. The heartbreak of getting this far after over a year of training even got to us here in town. So we are all hoping to get him back on the road tomorrow. In the mean time he wanted me to shout out a HI to his wife Maily and kids Swanley and Lancelot.
- Pavel Machacek of the Czech Republic arrived with a bandaged and bloody arm. He would like to say it was from fending off a bear attack, but truly it was from trying to video tape with one hand and steer with another. It didn't work. More from him later after he finally gets a hot meal in his belly at the Stray Bullet.
More soon! Carry on!
