What's the front shox used by Rob Colliver (Reply #375), if it is one. I have never seen that before.

It's a Lauf. There seem to be a few riders using them this year, Josh Kato had one.

The random one is the bloke who's got a Lauf (travel 60mm) on the front of a Tallboy (a lot more than 60mm travel).

Thanks! It seems that it doesn't have a lockout. How is it riding uphill?

Can't be that bad. I don't bother locking out a 100mm Reba.

Sorry for the long delay in the final photos from yesterday Jun 14 but my computer and this site were battling for supremacy. The site won and wouldn't allow me to post. So here I present photos of: Alex Frankle of BC Canada These two delightful guys who names I don't remember due to a huge brain fart and I apologize. anyone? Joseph Hoskins of VA and Jerad Harris of CO Richard 'Ricky' Jara of NJ and a view of the common area at the Ovando Inn; subtitled Bike On Inn! Starting with today's less hectic pass soon. Carry on. REALLY love seeing these pics! But this particular post, I am only seeing the first pic (Alex Frankle), and not the rest of your list. I'm expecting you'll have one of my friend Dave Reeck from Seattle, WA at some point, perhaps one of the two unidentified blokes. Let me know if I'm missing something -is everyone else only seeing the single picture too?

Thanks for the photos, Russ! Chris was VERY happy to have your lodge and food available.
Thanks! We have stepped our game up for hot food for the riders this year. We can have them in and out in less than 1/2 hour with choices of Chicken Pot Pie, Lasagna or Roasted Chicken all with the trimmings and dessert. While they are eating we have been making sandwiches for the 100 mile push to Lima.

Josh crashed b/c of some a**hole motorist trying to take him out--steering directly towards/into him. and he bailed to save his own life......the fork had nothing to do with anything...other than it being along for the ride

Northbound riders 4 minutes before takeoff!
Nice seeing those NOBO's, thanks! Ron and Michael should be in Colorado by tonight/tomorrow, That will be a great feeling for them. NM is a rugged stretch, Colorado should be a nice change of pace. Weather looks great for them too.

Aboslutely not. The Lauf is amazing! If anything it saved me from a few crashes already when I was "sightseeing" and not paying attention to rocks/roots or whatnot. It's an ideal type of fork for this race. It matches the vibration reduction system in the Salsa Cutthroat frame suberbly. I have NEVER been more comfortable on a bike in a gravel type ride than I was on this one. The Lauf/Cutthroat combination is really awesome. Some sections of chundery descents were soooo much more confortable than the last 2 years. I'll be using Laufs in the future I can assure you.

In a couple of the early pix...You had a look of comfort on that bike. Like you were firing off on all cylinders. and loving every second of it.......bummed that you had to bail out Josh.....!!!

Yeah, I saw that 20D flag with him close this morning. I recently made my way through your excellent TD blog, Dave, and will be using some of your tips for an upcoming GDMBR tour. Racers are now approaching what I believe you deemed an "oasis" -- Red Rock RV Park, 5 mi west of Hwy 20 near Henry's Lake: http://www.redrockrvpark.com/ (Mike Hall has already zipped by it!). Look under the Reservations tab for their "Special Biker's Rate". The folks there obviously have a sense of cyclist humor as well: "Use of coin-operated Washer/Dryers (please, no waiting in the nude)." I didn't realize they were so keen on the TD/GDMBR: http://photos.rvinteractive.com/Public-Galleries/Sports/Bicycling . Blue dot watchers might look for photos popping up there as well. Hey thanks AB. There are some golden oldies in the Red Rock TD photo gallery! Names that are TD folklore. Looks like the 25 Day flag has got a spurt on and is only about 5 hours ride behind the 20 Day flag! Steve must have slowed a lot toward the end of last years race. Meanwhile Mike McElveen is still showing as in Helena. I hope he is ok as he was smashing it. Thanks to Russ Kipp for the photos from MHCL. Great to see how everyone looks after 800 some miles!

the site wouldn't let me upload any photos lately. Will try again tonight. Sorry about that. Tried about a dozen times and it only came out as error 440. Frustrating. Keeping fingers crossed for tonight. Thank you!
