Here are a couple of pics of Nick. One at "Antelope Hell" and one at the bus station all boxed up ready to roll on to Phoenix. There is a new bus route this year from Lordsburg to Phoenix going thru Safford and Globe. Nice ride and views, I am sure you all have seen enough beautiful mtns, trees, rivers, etc. This route is new and is never full. Another note: Boutique Air now has a flight from Silver City to Phoenix. Cost is 149.00, 50 lbs. max. plus taxes and fees. No idea what happens after 50 lbs. Good Luck! Back to Nick. Nick rode out of the Gila and Silver City where he ended camping in the highway ditch at White Signal. The beginning of Separ road. Slept a few hours. I ran into him at the Hachita community where we working on the roof still. Nick rested a short while had a soda and continued on thru the heat of the day. No storms in the late afternoon, for the last couple days. Seriously, he rode on into the heat. "race is still on, till the last finisher". I gave him a couple of options waiting till the evening or early in the morning, after breakfast. The stories from the caboose are just as good as the ones from the engine. They see and here about the carnage falling (failing) off the front. Nick tells me his only other long ride was from Maine to Michigan. He has never been in any race. He believes he has doubled his lifetime cycling miles, including childhood. He had to subtract about 500 miles for walking on this trip. Congratulations Nick and once again Thank-You! Hi All, For the Cordillera annex, would be grateful if you could update the workbook with the Tour Divide blog/story links with new ones for 2016 (and any that may have been missed). Thanks! https://goo.gl/forms/2jhv13iyxEbxTnnB3

I am feeling a bit out of the loop here, and sorry if this is obvious to everyone, but...
I have seen several references to the 5000 mile course next year. What is this in reference to? Thanks in advance.

Holy blog updates Batman!
Branch Mountain Lodge .... "A pint of water, and two others are required before I get a beer." Yes and I remember that third, empty, pint being held over your head as you said " beer please". (Actually I forget what it was that you said, but the sight of you flourishing an empty (empty of water) pint glass over your head will remain with me for a long time.) See you in 2018. Cheers, Dave , as in Stowe

Hi Greg, First congratulation on your ride. Well done. But... I must say, your utter contempt for rural America and rural Americans is a bit over the top. I couldn't read beyond day 8, sorry Face it, there are mines in the world, a somewhat necessary evil. Towns you refer to as "Shitholes" have been hosting, helping racers and TD tourers for years they've embraced us, helped us and opened their hearts to our community, for as long as I can remember. "4x4's running around with obese family members?" "Worst examples of Americana?" These places are people's homes, communities and they are likely proud to call them home. I'm a proud American and would hope you might re-think your position some.

Greg, congrats on finishing, even tho DQ'd (family visitation). Not to get twitchy, and I mean this in a positive way, but I agree that you took a hard line on places along the route. I enjoyed most of the read, and appreciate all the effort to compose it. Some thoughts: The mines you mentioned happened to contribute to the US making all kinds of war implements that were needed to supply our European allies during two world wars, and Butte is the home of Robert J. "Rob" O'Neill, the Navy Seal that pulled the trigger on Usama Bin Laden - you're welcome. I feel for your trying to sleep and having someone disrupt it (it's happened to me), although you are ready to actually fight a stranger later when you are the one being noisy at night. I agree that a lot of people riding 4 wheelers or motorcycles could benefit from riding bicycles. In short, what Briansong said. Sure hope you take a kinder look at things. I know the Euro view of America is a bit slanted, and same with our view of 'over there'. Here's hoping you try to see the whole picture. (By the way, we share a mutual friend - not saying who).

Nice! I don't know how you managed to stay so clean though! That last picture of you and Jose and Pavel makes it look like you are starting out on a northbound ITT. Cheers, Dave

I certainly didn't feel clean at the end! Hadn't had a wash since Colorado!
The smell in the car away from Antelope Wells with Pavel and Jose was pretty ripe.

More of a post race thing at this stage. Words and photos from an aspect of my experience this year have made it to print, quite happy with the result. http://grit.cx/magarchive/issue-009DSC01522.jpg by Greg.May, on Flickr

Hey Chris, Lael's ITT time in 2015 (second run) was 15:11:02 . Not sure if you want to include ITT or only Grand Depart times.
Cheers
