Ovando reporting in again. Had to share the arrival of Dennis McCormick of Park City Utah on his custom made Lightfoot bike. Almost a recumbent but not quite. Dennis suffered from what is now known as Shermer's Neck. And he didn't allow that to end his dreams of cycling the Divide or anywhere else for that matter. He tried a typical recumbent but found it too heavy. So a few years ago a Missoula company [now out of business] made this for him and it has been working very well for him. After a great talk he is back on the route going SOBO.
One more cycling coming up!

He has finally arrived. The first, last and only surviving NOBO racer; Evan Lee, 27 of Texas who left Antelope Wells on Jun 9th. He said this race has thrown EVERYTHING at him but nothing was quite so unpreparable for than the 5.8 magnitude earthquake yesterday morning, July 6th at 12:30 am, along with the 5 aftershocks in the first hour and a half. That he said was beyond comprehension. Other than a few rattled nerves the journey continues and he is off to Seeley Lake. Thanks for stopping into Ovando Evan and safe riding!
And I believe Ovando is OUT for the year. Thank you all for reading. To TDR 2018! Carry On.

And once the Race is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the Race is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the Race, you won't be the same person who rode in. That's what the Race is all about.

Watching Evan Lee get close to Elkford on his NOBO a couple of hours ago, and suddenly he's showing as Finished ... looks like something wrong with the Trackleaders finish threshold going north.

Thanks, yep -- bit of a NoBo config error. He's still got a bit to go to earn that FIN status, now.

I've been watching Peter Puenner on his ITT and he's been riding strong. Averaging about 140 miles a day. Looks like he missed Gold Dust.

Give it up for Tim Glover! Correct me if I'm wrong I think I've seen his name on Trackleaders for multiple years and this was his year completing the route. I don't know you Tim but I'm super happy to see you finish this year!

Without much fanfare, previous Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson rode the TD this year. He was listed as an alienator finisher but he claimed foul for some reason. In any case, thats a politician I can stand behind.

He done good. Don't know why he's claiming foul though .. he did miss part of the course ( from Moran Junction past Turpin Meadow lodge up to Tog Lodge ) ... he also went down Tog Pass to Lava Mtn Lodge, figured it out, went back uphill and down Brooks Lake Road like he was supposed to ... that's a piece lots of folks have had trouble with in the past, gave rise to a lot of complaining a couple of years ago. One of the gals missed the Gold Dust piece, figured it out, got a ride back to redo it and she got alternated. Rules are hard. But you know, he did good, at 60 something he rode 2700 plus miles, self supported, in a lot of funky weather, something no other presidential, or congressional candidate has ever done. Kudos !

With course deviation or not, anyone who finishes TDR has my utmost respect. I had dinner at McDonald's with Gary and a couple riders in Fernie. He was pretty cool and down to earth and acted just like anyone else. That was before the next day when I was told that that was the presidential nominee Gary Johnson.
