Just for giggles, I ran the leaderboard to "projections" Ben is on an 8:18 pace. Smiley

From experience, he'll go crazy for a couple of days then settle into a steadier, but still amazing pace.

Anyone else "following along" on Google Streetview? Most of the route is available up to the turn at Elk Pass Trail Head.

I think Jay is "participating" as a salsa rep this year and not actually racing.

Wondered about JP too.  And Guy Martin?  Nope, don't see him either.   icon_biggrin

After coming off his Fireblade at the Isle of Man TT this year, Guy was lucky to get away with a cross-threaded left wrist. He probably wishes he was back on the TD this year.

It will also be interesting how much Mike Halls Record ghost dot from last year gains on them as they negotiate the re-route

Looks like it might be pretty wet toward the back of the pack! How many times has fortune favoured the fast in this race? It seems like the back of the pack always suffer the worst of the weather.

Steve Halligan looks like he might have had a mechanical in the mud... stuck at mi 85 for over an hour. Shame as he is the fastest Kiwi on course and I'm picking him to break Ollie's time from 2012...

The topic of weather seems up front so with that I'll post about the weather coming up in our neck of Montana the next 5 days.

Sporadic rain today, rain Saturday, Monday and Tuesday with Mon and Tues calling for heavy rain [one site says 1" on Monday and we never get that forecasted!].  Best yet, rain and lows around 37 tonight which means snow around the 6,000' level.  This is 2014 all over again.  Hypothermia, and misery.

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=47.06156020623962&lon=-112.91720766130379#.WTszgmgrLIV

But being Montana this could change hourly.

Very happy to see another most successful start. Give it hell out there! We're all very happy and a little jealous of your journeys, ahead!

Seems like just another thing to fail to me : (

Hi all.  I've just logged in for the first time in ages to follow a bevy of mates this year.  Can anyone direct me to the info on the Canada rerouted and the reasons for it?  Cmon the ANZACs

There is a bridge out in the upper Flathead so to avoid a heap of blacktop Paul Attula scouted out the reroute around it to the west through Fernie, then it joins the original route about mid way down the Flathead. It looks like a steep, tough reroute - about 15 miles longer than the normal route.  The Wall is still in there in the Flathead too.

Check Trackleaders for the map.

Here's a bit more background, as reported by Neil,

Looks like he's going to try to keep a running commentary,
