If I recall correctly she did get outside help in correcting her mistake at the Gold Dust Trail, somebody spotted the mistake on Trackleaders (I'm sure there was a post from him on here about it but it disappeared) and called the owner of the Como Depot who tracked her down and alerted her.
Just speculation but maybe that goes against the self supported rules?? A bit harsh if so, she did go back an do it.

Yeah, JayP's ride is another remarkable effort for 2017's race.  Fifth overall after giving the field a two-day head start...well, what superlatives can you use?

Wonder why JayP's not showing as finished on Trackleaders? I looked at his history and he indeed made the border, but is now in Hachita probably hanging with Jeffery Sharp.

Quick question:  Is there anybody left racing for the Nobo's other than Evan Lee?  Looks like the Mike's Grosso and Jolly have ended at Pinedale 3 days ago.

Looks like he's the last of the Nobo's alright. Just about half way now!

It looks like Trackleaders is suffering from Spot-delay again, nearly everyone isn't updating position. Not that I'm refreshing obsessively or anything.

That's too bad.  I suspect she wasn't clear on the "ride" rule - only for major mechanicals.  Missed turns require the rider to go back under their own power to correct.

Small sample size I know, but a couple more numbers to give some perspective on this year's conditions: Current projections are for 9 Grand Depart riders to finish sub-20 days. That's the lowest # since 2014 and tied for second lowest since 2011. Include the more successful of the ITTs, and the average per year is about 13 riders finishing in 20d or less.

EDIT: Average per since 2011, I should say ... obviously those numbers were smaller in the earliest days of the race.

Can you give the percentage of starters vs sub 20 day averages? That way it takes into account a weighted average of the starting wolf pack.

I know that this year, compared to 2015, it took me 2 hours longer to reach Elkford - and I'm in a bit better shape than 2015, although slower than the average GD racer (I'm 66, give an old man a break). Anyone have numbers for the route length considering the new Koko Claims and fire reroute?

And once the Race is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the Race is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the Race, you won't be the same person who rode in. That's what the Race is all about.

My GPX files total out as follows:
2016 route - 2667 miles & 183000' of climb
2017 route - 2702 miles & 186500' of climb

That's using MapMyRide and I don't know how accurate their altitude / distance data is.  But it might be safe to say that the 2017 route is 35 miles longer with an additional 3500' of climb.

But I would take ScottM's numbers over these any day.

I don't understand all the algorithms and specific pros/cons of GPS devices and website route programs. For me, for a given distance, the ride is
a) flat
b) rolling
c) climbing
d) super zh/tload of climbing
e) HAB
f) super zh/tload of HAB

Just easier to process that way.  icon_biggrin thumbsup

Would someone please tell me why the Tour Divide takes the paved Chaco and El Malpais alternates on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route instead of the very cool main route?  I know if it's too wet it can be unrideable, but isn't it dry this time of year?  They are missing a lot of great riding. Thanks.
