I believe he has climbed the Seven Summits successfully so he knows adventure for sure.

Thanks for the finishers photos, Jeff -- glad to see Gary made it in!
Anyone notice anything strange about the AB dot (Ashley Benns)?

Technically...he is doing a 'Yo-Yo-Yo' Met him in Montana on a rainy day, me southbound, him northbound. First thing out of my (tired, wet) mouth was, "Are you lost? You're going the wrong way!". Duh.

And once the Race is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the Race is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the Race, you won't be the same person who rode in. That's what the Race is all about.

Ashley Benns on the way down to Antelope Wells yesterday. This was about 10:00 am, he made it back to the ranch house around 7:00 pm. Yes, the rumor is true. He and I talked about how Billy Rice and himself are the only ones to have succeeded with a yo-yo attempt. That we know of. He is adding a yo to the yo/yo. I did give him a mental evaluation to make sure he was not bonkers.(LOL). Ashley says this will be his last ride on the divide but will be back for the senior category someday. This guy has "grit" Cheers

I do have many more photos, but they were taken with to much definition. Any ideas about how to reduce from megabytes to kilobytes will be helpful. Thank-you

I asked Gary Johnson which states were his hardest and favorite. Of course he said New Mexico. To my surprise, he would be willing to "Ride the Divide" again. He figures he can cut a bit of time off his route record.

Ralph Krauss has finished. This was his second trip. Ralph lost 20 pounds and his in fairly good shape. On the way back from Antelope Wells, Ralph and I spotted eleven big horn sheep at the gap. (flat spot between the big hatchets and the little hatchets where highway 81 passes through). About 50 yards away from us. Ralph purchased the Pontiac sunbird I had acquired and is currently driving home. Last time he bought an old volkswagon beetle and drove it home to Illinois.
