Not sure if this has been posted, but looks like Mandatory CDT before Silver City is a no-go. Shame, lovely section of trail that.

http://www.krqe.com/news/wildfires/meadow-fire-burns-in-gila-national-forest-near-signal-peak/1216513767

Is this closure still in effect?

The CDT section is now open. Andrew K rode it on his way NoBo a couple of days ago.

However you didn't (yet) call out the top 15 racer who missed a section. Just an observation.
And I won’t. Its interesting that you won’t call this top 15 racer out on your own if it bugs you. Just an observation.
I’m done

I would bet if you ask her she will say she is racing.
Well I guess the consensus is not to call anyone out on this forum during a race. I don’t get it, but so be it.
The quote on the blog said “supporting” that’s what got me.
Like Iowagriz posted he read it differently and if that’s the case I do apologize.

On Greg - Gold dust comes up awful fast after the top of the pass and anyone could blow by the trail easily. Kudos for him realizing it and climbing back up to get it done.

Let’s move on

I see Gary Johnson is back out there. (Ex-presidential candidate and ex Governor of New Mexico)

Moral support is allowed.

I have, just not on this Forum.

It begs the question of why you won't? You are happy to "call out" a 57 y.o. lady but not top racers?

Sure do miss following Mike Hall's adventures.
Looks as if people will be chasing his accomplishments for some time.
Thanks to the photographers for sharing the images.

Race Fan - out.

Nobo itt Andrew K is still crushing it out there and he just might achieve his goal of a 13 day finish.  Through 1000 miles he is so far averaging 204 miles per day, v. Lewis C at around 175 per day.  However, all it might take to throw a wrench in the works is a little bit of mud.  Meanwhile, Greg G. is making a strong push for 2nd place!

Greg Gleason is definitely killing it, looking for a podium spot for sure. Plus, he is now first in the "over 50" category, as Dom Irving seems to be fading after a brilliant NoBo start.
The Bailey-Greg race looks neck and neck! I'm still rooting for the singlespeeder Wink

Sure enjoy Hal’s call-ins even know I only can understand half of it.

Alexandera’s last call- in a few days ago she really seemed like she was having a bad day, but still cranking out the miles. thumbsup

Blazing hot in New Mexico now. Wouldn't be surprised to see some riders going longer into the night.

Ability to suffer - thats how he went so fast with so little gear. That is what seperates the really fast from the mid-pack amatuers (of which I am one!)

As for missing a turn? I took a wrong trail climbing Marshall Pass in 2015. I discovered I was off track when I came back onto the route so I descended the route until I found where I went off then turned around and climbed again. I was pissed with myself but thankful I discovered it when I did, not a day later when it would have been impossible to rectify. I wonder if the guy that missed Gold Dust even knows he missed it!

Also, go Lewis!! Only 200km to go and it’s (almost) all downhill!

Up early here in Hatchita to cheer our leader on when he passes by. I rode down here from Silver City yesterday a bit ahead of my schedule and I will ride to AW to meet my ride in the morning. The town of Hatchita has been great to cyclists over the years by opening their community center for a safe place to camp. Today the community center is having a fundraising BBQ so any rider family in the area can come on by and support some great people.

Lewis Ciddor rolling down the final bit.  Bravo!  Just a touch over 15 days.  Strong run.  Hope you enjoyed your journey.

He had a big smile as he rolled through Hatchita. I got a picture but I can't figure out how to post it. I can email it to someone who knows how to post photos.
