Anybody know why Josh Kato went back to a Salsa Fargo for this run down the TDR? Hadn't he been on a Cutthroat the past couple of years? Just curious...

Steel is more comfortable? Sometimes carbon can be too stiff...

WOW!  Don't know if he can keep it up, but Sofiane has just passed Mike Hall's flag.

EDIT:  Just noticed that Lael just passed her own flag as well.

He is on titanium Fargo. Talked a bit about bike choice in his chat with Ross Burrage on "the hidden athlete" podcast.

This doesn't resize in-line the images already posted, but on Chrome (and probably other browsers), right-click on the image and select 'Open in a new tab' - this will scale the image to fit; can still enlarge to full size.

The annual Ovando Montana TDR parade of photographs should be starting in a few hours with the arrival of Sofiane Sahili into first place.  Mike Hall was here at noon on his record breaking attempt and Sofiane is ahead of that.  This year ALL photos will be posted on bikepacking.net only as I just don't have the time to do multiple postings.  See you soon.

I see Sofaine didn't even stop in Ovando. He's +2 days and has a total of :59 minutes stop time. Forgetting fatigue, how can he even resupply or get enough water by never stopping? SMH.

I'm guessing no.  He lists feedbags and seat pack under bags, but neither are in the picture.

Sofiane is crushing the miles but it doesn't look like he has really stopped yet.  I'm thinking that's going to bite back.  45 mile lead, but just starting day 3.  I'd be stunned if he can keep that gap.

Keep'em turnin kids!! headbang

Sofiane Sehili made it into Ovando Montana just behind Mike Halls record dot.  But where Mike stopped and had a lunch at the Stray Bullet, Sofiane went for the quick and easy:  downing 2 hot dogs and a pastry at the BCC in gut wrenching timing and was out within minutes heading toward Helena which he hopes to make by midnight and get about 4 hours of sleep.  Sofiane looked great and energized despite not sleeping in about 3 days.  Said he was hoping he'd be 4 hours ahead of the nearest competition when he reached here.  Guess we'll see later today.   Says he just wants to win.   Beating the Hall record is not a top priority.

Nice, I ran the replay mode before I made the post. It looked like he never stopped. How long was he there?

7 minutes?  Maybe?  Literally ran in, down 2 dogs, filled up with water, packed up and ran out.
