Ovando is just under a quarter of the way along the route. I can't remember from previous years, does anyone post similar sets of photos from further along the route say Atlantic City and Abiquiu which are roughly halfway and 3/4 way along the route?

It looks like both Josh Ibbett and Kai Edal missed the turning for Stempel Pass but Kai is now back on route.

Russ from the Lodge near Polaris Montana usually posts rider photos.

Stocked up on snacks and hotdogs for later.  One photo shows the bagged and mustarded meal being squished into a bag.  Mmm Mmm delicious!

Excellent use of "mustard" as a verb! I never really considered hot dogs as a "for later" kind of food lol. Thx for the great pics!

Are the Ovando hot dogs famous or something?  Sounds like every rider has been getting them.

"Mustarded" in this context is an adjective.

He is on titanium Fargo. Talked a bit about bike choice in his chat with Ross Burrage on "the hidden athlete" podcast.

Interesting to hear Josh talk about how deep he went during the 2016 race. What was real and what was an illusion? The old lady at night in Navajo area near Peublo Pintado, the crows and badger on his bike.

Well, first off, hot dogs are delicious, especially with a little Hormel Chili on them...or a lot of Hormel Chili.

I was wondering about how all the filming of Lael would play on the route, so it's good to hear how the crew is handling it.  I wondered if it might slow her down a bit - good to hear that's not the case.  I can't imagine she would race with anything that costs her time.

Good Monday Jun 17th morning from Ovando Montana.  Already playing catch up:
Immediately met up with the vivacious and always ready for a laugh Alexandera Houchin.  Rocking it on a single speed.  Was out before 8 am as she wants to break the single speed record this year.  Hugs for all.  Good to see her for 2 years in a row.  And always good to see her still in her cut off pants, spaghetti strap tops, military boots and [ACK ACK] no helmet. [the latter would really like to see changed].

Coming in 17 thru 19th place:
#17:  Lucas Ratliff of Colorado,  following Alexandera and saying he felt quit over dressed an formal in his kit.  F
#18:  Stefano Romouldi of Italy:  Returning veteran whose breakfast diet I truly appreciate.  At 9:30 am he was having a couple of beers at the Stray Bullet.
#19:  Aaron Denberg of Wyoming.  Caught appreciating the vintage bicycle parked in front of the Blackfoot Angler, that in 1957 regularly traveled over Huckleberry Pass so the kid could get to school.  [the kid still owns the bike.]  NO He is NOT actually riding that in the TDR!

Place setters #20 and 21;
Jason Kiefer of Colorado.  Playing catch up after a bladder issue in Kalispell.
David Langley of Australia, who could forget David of the Mutton Chops.  Great to see him again!

Lael is backtracking into Helena, that can't be good. Let's hope its minor. Looks like she was only a few miles out of town when she turned back.

Anyone know how to get in contact with Scott Morris?  I'm curious if it would be possible to add the singlespeed record pace as a dot to Trackleaders, as Alexandera Houchin is gunning to break it.  It would be fun to watch.

Men's and Women's SS flags would be nice.
