Up next in no timing order:
1. Alex Modell of Colorado who has been riding alongsie Tim Roberts of England most of the way before meeting up and riding with David De Sotomayor.

3. Curtis Fincher of MN
4. Daniel Nickle of San Jose CA -- Go Sharks! [sorry didn't mean to do that].
5. David de Sotomayor of CA
6. Kent Murphy of OH, left here but was not feeling in the peak of health. Bought a lot of Emergen Cee for the vitamins. Hopefully he'll get to feeling better. Keeping fingers cross for you Kent.

8. Tim Roberts of England.
Last a photo of today's 3 Musketeers: Tim, David and Alex.

Coming up:
1. GUMBY! Yes, seriously, Gumby of Ohio is doing the TDR. Am not allowed to take "Its" photo without the costume. Must admit I laughed til tears in the ears when he came bouncing into the shop. Thank you Nate for the best laugh since the dancing TDR machine.
2. Hannah Dhonau aka Sparkle Cheeks as she was dubbed by Fred at the BCC due to the glitter on her face has a matching personality. She was kind enough to grab Greg's credit card and chase him down with it. At least we sure hope she did.
3. James Morrell of England.
4. Jimmy Bisese of CO, Jayne from yesterday's husband. Okay this is a sweet scenario. He isn't as trained as Jayne so is a day back. She wants to stop and wait. He wants her to go for everything she has trained for and leave him in the dust if need be. She wants to share the moment with him. Ohhhh the drama. [I think he'll win the debate].
5. Ken Waring another annual stable of the TDR. Another suffering the lower extremity ailment. Said he hadn't sat on his seat in the last 65 miles. And yet off he went toward Lincoln. Good luck Ken.
7. Del Gordon and Nigel Williamson of New Zealand. My first couple racers. So bitchin. More on Nigel in a minute.
8. And the every wonderful Ross Burrage of Australia. Ross is a social media penpal as it were as is his wife Rachael who we both joined in front of the webcam to wave to her. That was for you Mrs. Burrage!!!

The latest in TDR hair styling: THE TWO TRACK as modeled by Nigel Williamson of New Zealand. Easy to care for and your cycle helmet fits nicely into the groves.
Way to be styling Nigel!

Island Park is +36 degrees F this morning with light winds from the south that will increase to 15-20mph as the day progresses.  A cool morning for the leaders!

Nobody can survive on a few hours of sleep over 14 days. We're just over 5 days into this race and I wonder if the leaders have a rest strategy or if they are playing it by ear. I sure hope they have a good handle on their limitations as they are about to enter one of the worst stretches for vehicle traffic on the entire route.

I think Sofiane has done his homework. It looks like his strategy was to get past Mike Hall then rest when Mike did. I wonder if Josh is reacting to what Sofiane is doing? They both have access to Trackleaders so can keep an eye on the MH dot as well as each other.

That's what makes it both interesting and dangerous.  If Sofiane were on an ITT the strategy of staying ahead of the MH flag would work fine, but Josh is past that flag also and has demonstrated in the past what he is capable of when others take a break.

Both are running an incredible race.  I didn't think one rider could get in front of Mike's dot...to see two of them is - I don't know - proper words elude me.  The roads up to Togwotee Pass, Brooks Lake, and Union Pass will determine much.  If there are snow fields, Mike's memory will blow past them and won't likely be caught, given what may be awaiting in the elevations of Colorado.

This is super-exciting for sure!!!

Hwy 287 going past Togwotee Mtn Lodge is clean and dry and the area looks snow-free.  But under the trees where the route goes there could still be snow.  I'm guessing road crews don't put a blade on those roads until the snow is gone.  We'll probably have a good idea sometime today.

I believe the men's record is the 2016 run by Chris Plesko - 15d 8hrs.  Don't know about the women's record.

Looks like current NOBO leader Graham Suffield rode the Brazos Ridge through the night and didn’t appear to be slowed down much by the reported snow and mud.  Maybe it was cold enough to solidify and make it ridable.    Smart move if that was a planned strategy!
