Well, I'm not sure we're going to get any additional call-ins to MTB Cast, but I got all caught up on them last night...what great information. Joe, thanks again for all you do to make this race come alive for us each year from the audio side of things.
It's very much appreciated!!
It's a bucket-list item for me to someday make calls from the Tour Divide route.
All the best!
Joel

I hope you get the chance, Joel! It's pretty fantastic! I really appreciate what Joe does. The call-ins provide such a unique and wonderful layer to the race!

Thanks! I hope your recovery from surgery is going well. I said a few extra prayers this week. It's great to see you posting again. Congratulations to fellow Iowan Matt Miller, who finished the race early this evening in a very strong 22d 10h. Way to go!!! He has some decent hills where he lives (we've been in that area several times), but nothing like what he faced on the route.

I've enjoyed commenting with y'all during this year's race. I'm heading off grid for a few days and will be riding 150ish miles of the GDMBR here in SW Montana. Would have been fun to have done so a few weeks back were a few hundred other riders out there but time off from work and the stars don't always align. Besides my pace going to be 60 to 70 mpd and not 200!

Alex Howes comparing TD to TDF: https://velo.outsideonline.com/gravel/gravel-racing/the-tour-de-france-vs-tour-divide-which-is-harder/One excerpt I found funny: Velo: Why did you want to do Tour Divide? AH: A big part of it, honestly, was in 2016, when Mike Hall set the Divide course record [which still stands], some random person sent me a message saying, ?You guys are losers,? in reference to guys that line up for the Tour de France. ?This guy?s a real bike rider!? He sent me this link to the record-setting ride. I was like, ?Whatever.? But it kind of put something in the back of my head. --- I for one am very thankful for the quiet and smooth year. It was a good one, an inspiring one. Thanks to everyone, riders, fans and locals!
