I finished at 6:57 last night
In El Paso with Aaron d and Stefan m
Renting a car to Denver

It was a glorious finish, complete with freak rainstorm on me and Charlie with 20 miles to go
TD didnt want to let me Go without a fight!!

A career triple crown- 7th person to do it
2/3rd the way to the season triple crown
9th race finish all triple crown events - that makes me number 1 in that category passing Matt lees 8
9 in a row without failure
3 consecutive triple crown races finished (2013 Ctr)

I guess you could say I am having a good year
Sweet

I reckon it must be that wonderful Geronimo Pain Cream at work.

Congrats Mark!

I look forward to Marshal Bird's follow-up on his planned strategy/gear revisions for 2015:

http://bikedrifting.blogspot.ca/

2014 was a tough wet year out of the chute (or chutes, if we're talking about recent avalanches along the way). And it didn't help any that the race started on Friday the 13th!!

Best of luck in 2015, Marshal, and keep us posted with your new game plan.

This week on a ride from nelson to whitefish i ran into some folks in grasmere who had been riding with Jill They mentioned that at the time she had not been allowed in despite having what seemed to be to me far more cash than i or most would have had. Living near the border i have often found the canadians tougher to deal with than the us guys.

Any update from Jill?? She's been showing the camp symbol of over 30 hours near Sparwood. I thought she may be hoping for a last second miracle hitch, but at some point needs to head north.

I read her blog entry (linked in a previous post) and it sounds like she's done.

...one goes through, and they enforce seemingly randomly rules.  For Jill, stopping her due to a previous bike accident is so illogical.  Do they stop people in cars because there was a car accident on CAN side involving US citizens?  Stupid.

And just have to add for the record, Fernie is a great town with so many helpful people and ride options back to Flathead were offered, but

TD14: Jason Snell called in from near Silver City. This call is just a few seconds before cutting off. I post it so you know he is sounding good. And Eric Sime called in from Grants getting ready to head to Pie Town!

TD14: Jason Snell called in from near Separ to recap as he nears the finish! Today he spotted a road-runner and a tarantula! Sheila Torres-Blank called in her finish call! She managed to shave 13 minutes off her time from last year! And Jason Snell called in to let me know he put an MTBCast sticker on the “Port of Entry 65 Miles” sign!

Congrats on a great finish, Mark!

How's the recovery going? I can't imagine getting ready for the CTR after what you've already been though this summer.

Congrats on a great finish, Mark!

How's the recovery going? I can't imagine getting ready for the CTR after what you've already been though this summer.

I am at work today
I feel  a bit groggy, like after surgery?? ( I never have have been put under myself, just guessing)
knee hurts a bit
but overall I am ready to ride a bike, hit a treadmill, do some push ups

first i need to dial in the bike again.
New tires chain brake pads grips
lube some stuff
maybe even new front hub bearings

But no Toby I aint all broke off like after CTR or AZT750. I think the longer duration and putting out less intensity over longer periods is less brutal on the recovery for a mid pack racer in TD.

edit- I do have some numb hands, especially the right one. That will be a concern. But they dont seem to be as bad as after AZT750 so I think I will be fine for CTR. Its for the triple crown I could walk 550 if I have to!!!

TD14: Jason Snell called in again on route to the finish! He forgot to tell us that he had to resort to eating some Tums when he ran out of food!
