completely unprepared for the logistical and mechanical challenges and the gear choices required for the conditions of the last week. Nice effort, Tom. Would be interested to hear your thoughts about what you'd do differently.

I'm sorry to read that Tom DeVries has pulled the plug. I was following him closely and he was riding great. I too would love to hear your thoughts Tom, on what you would and would not do differently. What mechanicals did you suffer and what gearing were you running and how was it not ideal?

Thanks for the pic of my old (young at heart) man Angler! Good to see he's still trucking on... Cheers B. (#1 Son of Steve) There are plenty of a lot younger guys that would have loved to be looking as good as your "young" man. he looked very strong.

Got to ride down Fleccer Ridge to Wise River last night- was a real hoot! But have to scratch as rear hub bearings and BB 30 bottom bracket are shot
Bike issues plus open wound type saddle sore and all the lost time add up to 'pull plug' decision
Best of luck to all remaining
Will blog up details in a few

Tony Litson posted this on FB: "Bumped into a few friends, they slept in a wigwam last night, had been concerned for their safety a couple of days ago (on the day known as 'ride or die') word on he street is that 2 ladies were airlifted that day, and yesterday a guy was ambulanced off Richmond Peak"
Any idea who the ladies were and who was pulled from Richmond Peak? The latter may have been Ralph Zastrow.

Any idea who the ladies were and who was pulled from Richmond Peak? I do know that two ladies from Austin (not The Sheilas) were caught in the storm just past the Whitefish Divide and ended up being picked up by the Forest Service and taken to Whitefish. They are continuing on as DNFs. - Tony (in Austin)

1_So is the new I-15 Butte alternate the official route, or an "option"? 2_Yikes. Airlifts and forest service "lifts"? Anybody have any pics of Richmond Peak? 3_Sorry Marshall. 4_Jefe!

Maybe I missed it... How can we find the start date/time for the ITT riders. Seems that their time is reset to the Grand Depart (?). For example, am tracking Bill Peschka (my new hero - for all of us, ahem, more 'seasoned' riders). His spot tracks don't go back to Banff, thus can't tell start location/time.
Gracias!

And once the Race is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the Race is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the Race, you won't be the same person who rode in. That's what the Race is all about.

Bill started June 6, a week before GD. He blazed the trail through the avalanches which was later covered by the Blizzard. It has been a little lonely out there until yesterday. He is my hero too!
