ya this is probably the hardest start ever in the sense of sustained exposure but that's part of the equation
I made lots of typical mistakes that cost time but am truly frustrated with my ongoing struggle with saddle sores
Once the bleeding starts it's simply to painful to fight thru for a so so mid pack finish position
If i ever solve this issue and work allows I could be back
I truly squandered my fitness level this time around- gurr

1_So is the new I-15 Butte alternate the official route, or an "option"?
2_Yikes. Airlifts and forest service "lifts"? Anybody have any pics of Richmond Peak?
3_Sorry Marshall.
4_Jefe!

1_official, is my understanding, but was 'released' close enough to GD to allow the 'old' way to also be in play
2_pics look eerily similar to your Fleecer '10 pics

Sunshine and lots of smiles in the Grasshopper valley on Thursday.  Sorry for being tardy posting but we are setting up for a wedding at the lodge this weekend.  We will still have beds in our bunk house and food in the lodge for TD riders so do stop if you need anything.

Actualy Fleecer was fun in a bittersweet way
I rode it last night right at dark, just after realizing my race was going to soon be over

Yes, looks like full on winter, not just winter waning.
Solve the "issue" and salvage fitness for the CTR?

Just came down pass to roosville on ITT.  Ran into ranger who said someone was rescued coming down that pass.  Apparently he/she lost front brake and went into ditch.  Plenty of sun  here.

Hello everyone, we got a message from Dad (Tom DeVries), today, and it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that he is dropping out from the race.
Aw no.. And he was going so well in that tough first week.
To have got that far, on a SS in those conditions- that's an achievement in itself. Rather you than me Tom! : )

maybe-short races with lots of standing and hike a bike don't have time to cause problem

When and where do you think the "Golden Spike" will happen this year?

Geez - I've been trying to figure out how to install an auxiliary brake for the Galton descent.  I would NOT want to try that with only a back brake; it feels like a 45 degree angle on that road and it descends that way for 8 miles!

By my calcs, Jefe should get to Rawlins a couple hours before road 71 opens at 5pm. Pretty good timing! Getting to Rawlins in the morning could cost several hours (I'm assuming you can't make it through in the hour it's open 12-1, though who knows).
