A few more photos from Montana High Country Lodge.
SARA! You go! So happy to see her doing so well after her disastrous arrival in Ovando.

If anyone is in contact or knows how to contact Colin Anderson who is enroute back home to South Africa could you let him know his Samsung phone has left the building enroute to him. Being that it is via USPS it may take a month but it should reach there and is insured.
thanks!

Hello from Ovando finally. Sorry but with the nice weather returning the fishermen are out and I had to run a fly shop.
Upon arrival this morning found the following!
- Nick Handy of CO: Kristin he got his message as shown in the photo and was thrilled. - Jessica Green of TX and Ladies of the Tour Divide 2014 and of FB Jessica Green Rides. "It's pretty intense back there". She apparently had to push miles. She said she had forgotten to take her motivational pills today but got going anyway and is really making up miles. - Hal Russell of MO. Great to see you two years in a row sir. Let's make it 3! - Gary Tucker of KY riding with Hal - Tony Litson of Qatar

Arriving for lunch to Ovando, MT:
- Mark Glover of the UK - Ray Farrenkothen of South Africa who looked in much better condition than the photo shows. - The "Meet you in the next town" crew of: Kristian Myers of MN, Eric Sime of WI, Brad Crossley of Novia Scotia, Dan Gravele of MA and Max Southam of ME by far the youngest rider at 17 yoa. - Max is riding with his Pa: Peter - Scott Picquet of AZ
Plenty of stories were going around with this crew; including the rescue of a rider in Canada from the icy waters of a river. The rider apparently had removed his front brake pads when he found them binding. That resulted in a runaway bike which hit and sent him flying head first into the rocks and the river. His helmet [WEAR THOSE HELMETS] was shattered and he still obtained a good bashing to the head and was soaking freezing wet. The guys got him out of his wet clothes, dried him out; but he continued on for a bit with the crew accompanying him. It was Kristian who rode into cell service to call RCMP's and Brad, Dan and Max who administered first aid. RCMP finally was able to helicopter the rider to the hospital where all hope he is in good condition.
Yesterday Max encountered a rider sitting on the ground with a 4" gash on his knee outside of Seeley. The gash looked to be to the bone. Again, they found cell service and got him help. The kid has been granted an honorary emt calling card.
Scott's interesting story is he, from Arizona, found out only AFTER getting to the start, that he is practically neighbors with Lindsey Sheppard and Tony Arroyos. They all live only miles from each other but met at TDR. Looks like there may be an Arizona sized BBQ in their neighborhood in the near future.

Later this afternoon arriving in Ovando:
- Mark Witcher of TX and CA who had those TDR starts from hell. After breaking his crank, derailer and chain he had to push 25 miles to the US border and assistance. But here he is! Looking strong.
- Charles and Bruce Hughes, father and son out of South Africa and ITT's. Dad was getting plenty of appreciative puppy kisses from Rawley the shop's [and my] 10-month old Basset Hound who is here to meet and greet riders missing their own 4-legged kids.
- Jurgen Meijer of the Netherlands who arrived in time for a smoke and a coke is shown with his riding buddies Mark Myers and Jon Cowan both of Australia.
There may be one more rider in before I sign off so.....
Carry On!

Was surprised to go out my door and see Trisha Toth from WV standing there having just arrived. Her gps seems to work better when she is standing still than when moving as the last time I checked she was permanently planted in Seeley Lake. Trisha is one tough cookie altho she looks the exact opposite. Even the UPS guy who saw her scarfing a burger in Seeley couldn't believe she was doing this all on her own. Wait til I tell him this is her 2nd year in a row. Last year she completed the NOBO and this year she is going SOBO. Sort of like the yo-yo in two years. So far she says the NOBO is more weather friendly but don't tell everybody.
Oops. I think I just did.

Am I missing something? How can the 30-day pace flag be in Helena and the 25-day pace flag in Basin? Surely it doesn't take 5 days to get from Helena to Basin!

The 25 day flag is the Kurt and Caroline tandem from 2012. Not sure who the 30 day flag is. So definitely not an exact science as far as spacing and pacing.

Since the 25/30 day paces are roughly 1/4 into the race, that should amount to a little over a day's travel for those traveling around those paces (5 day difference divided by 4 = 1.25 day difference).

hypothermia--
Seems like a good number of riders were/are battling this. As a potential 2015 racer, I'm VERY curious how to avoid it, or to deal with it once it's begun. All advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!

DUH! Thanks. Yeah, they would be at the same point in Banff.

Nice effort, Tom. Would be interested to hear your thoughts about what you'd do differently.
So would I.

Got to ride down Fleccer Ridge to Wise River last night- was a real hoot! But have to scratch as rear hub bearings and BB 30 bottom bracket are shot
Bike issues plus open wound type saddle sore and all the lost time add up to 'pull plug' decision
Best of luck to all remaining
Will blog up details in a few
Sorry to hear it. You've had an inspiring ride thus far. Looking forward to the update on your blog.
