Couldn't find a forum for this. Starts today. The film (Inspired to Ride) about last year's event is great.

At the 24 hour point, Adrian O' Sullivan leads with a whopping 340 miles. Early days, but can he hang on for a second Brit win after Mike Hall last year?

Very interesting watching these folks pile on the miles early. It is a long way to Yorktown, anyone's race at this point. Just trying to understand 500 miles in a day and a half or so, on a bike, with a lot of stuff. Some people's ability to block out pain is truly amazing! Safe travels to all.

Jesse Carlsson was certainly my pick before the race as I knew the most about him and his previous experience from Australia, plus his setup looked close to perfection, quite remarkable how little he has gone with really. Mike Hall commented on Inspired to Ride how they went out a little too crazy the first few days last year and really felt it as the ride progressed, I guess that's what sleep 'deprivation x immense excursion' does to the body. I'd be keen to see a shadow of where Mike was in comparison to Jesse this time last year.

Early days of the race yet but sure is great to see Evan Deutsch doing so well. Our first place American right now. Must be warmer out there than when we crossed over Richmond Peak together last year. Go Evan!

Sure seems like they have hit some dry hot weather, Jesse has reported extreme heat form the aptly named furnace creek. This is his Instagram feed for anybody looking for pictures updates from the saddle... https://instagram.com/dexterskidmore/

Some savage near century temps again today. Jesse seems to have taken the early 'rest break' late afternoon in John Day and now in the early AM hours is up and away. The cream [very fluid] seems to have risen to the top with six riders and just 50 miles covering them all looking serious contenders.

So many variables for the riders in an unsupported race like this but I hope it can stay this way with so many riders close to the front as they progress across, would be very exciting to follow. Last year 1st, 2nd and 3rd was pretty much consolidated after the first week of riding.

Jesse Carlson did 575 miles in the first 48 hours. Adrian O'Sullivan's Spot hasn't updated for three hours, so presumably he's getting some well deserved rest.
