Looks like Cricket wasn't the only woman to start, as Lisa Randall's Spot has started showing on route too.  Go Lisa!

According to Facebook, Lisa's out as of an hour ago

Will be interesting to see who rides through the night, who bivys. The waning crescent moon and fully-leafed-in tree cover mean almost no ambient light-- anyone still riding is relying completely on their headlamp.  That really does start to wear on the psyche after a while... The racers are lucky to have nearly ideal weather tonight, though.

It is! It's hard to decide where to be, though. Staying in Helen or even NEAR it was out, though. What a madhouse. Blairsville hotel, cold beer, and may backtrack and see where the leaders are in the morning!

Eddie O is sounding good!  Didn't someone tell him he is supposed to stop and take a breather when he calls in?  icon_biggrin

I know he has recon'd a lot of this course....looks to be paying off.  Hope he continues to ride well....and safe travels to the other riders/racers.

He finally did. Got word he got some shut eye East of Potato Patch.

FYI: Check the feed. Charlie Rome called in to pull the plug on Wildcat Rd. Rob Roberts called in from Vogel State Park!

Either Matthew Lee's spot is not working or he's having some trouble. He's dropped back to fourth from first since yesterday.

Rob Roberts called in from Aska Rd., Mark Donaghy called to say he’s out, Eddie O’Dea makes it to Mulberry Gap at around Noon and we got a word with him. Check 'em out on the feed!

Does anyone know if there is a way to overlay the weather onto the spot tracker (trackleader.com) page?  Someone told me they were able to do this for the CTR and I was curios how it looks and if it was an option for this race?
This race looks awesome.  Might have to try it next year or so after hearing some feadback from the finishers and non-finishers alike.

John Hightower looks to have headed off-route and in to the town of Blue Ridge, which is a pretty long backtracking detour.  Either he's bailed or encountered a pretty serious problem on the steep, bushwhack-intensive climbs up from Cherry Log.  That section includes a couple "are you kidding me?" sections where you will be thinking about snakes and cursing your GPS.  Eventually the course reaches one of the jeep roads of the Cohutta 100-- so TNGA riders will get to enjoy Potatopatch Mtn, the major climb of the C100, with far more than 40 miles in their legs Smiley

I'm betting he and Trey are fueling up. Hopefully there's no issues with them or their bikes!

Rob Roberts called in from the downside of Stanly Gap. He’s fighting some knee pain. And Karlos Bernart called on the climb out of Helen. He managed to replace his pump as a road cyclist sold him his!

Wonder what time Eddie set his alarm/wake up call for??

Eddie’s Spot has been stopped for a bit on what looks like a Dalton hotel in the satellite view.  Matt and Brad are closing, I would guess about 12-14 miles, 1.5+ hrs back?

Might we have a ‘dash’ to the finish between these 3 racers?

I'm guessing Namrita, his wife, has met him and he's refueling and/or catching a nap in the back of his truck.  If you read through the rules, Dalton is one of the official aid locations for those racers choosing to use support.

We might indeed! Go everyone!

I thought the bushwacking hike-a-bike climb up over Flat Top Mt had been replaced with dirt roads.  A quick check of the route shows that it doesn't go up and over Flat Top, but maybe the replacement is just as bad or worse.   Also just when you get to the C100 route you have to take a side track to Pinhoti 1, which is tough.
