One of my favorite things to do in winter is to get out and ride my bike on an isolated road.
Packing a lunch and stove for some hot soup and a cup of Via at the turn around point.

As most of you winter riders know ice patches can pop up anywhere.
I'll usually wear my DH knee, elbow pads in case the bike decides to slip out from under me.

One other thing I did which was very simple, cheap, quick, and works great was to add sheet metal screws
to the bottom of my winter insulated treking/biking boots.

I also like the self-reliance of heating food at the mid-point.
