Routes, The West Coast (CA,NV,WA,OR) » Great Basin Mountain Bike Route of Nevada

by

Hello, I put together a charity mountain bike ride in 2008 across Nevada from Great Basin National Park to Reno. Have ridden it three times – 2 times west to east, and once east to west. Following dirt roads for 527 miles crossing 12 mountain ranges. Takes me 11 days (10 days of riding, 1 day off). Please check out xnvmtb.com for details of ride. Incredible route through the Great Basin. Camp the entire route. Will be riding this year August 31st to Septamber 10th as a solo rider without a support vehicle.

Thanks

Hi Jason, I may see you as I will be there as well. Planning on west to east starting on or about July 26th or 27th. I’ll be solo as well. Meeting a friend in Utah.

Water??
I noticed a couple of sources in the photos. What is your plan for your unsupported trip?

BTW, great website you put together.

Will be dropped off at Great Basin National Park, and ride back to Reno. Will have a SPOT tracking GPS on me. There are only a couple of small towns along the way so resupply is limited. Will use three water drops along some pretty remote stretches. Carrying about 8 litres of water most of the time. Food and the rest of gear will be carried standard bikepacking setup.

Thanks, and keep posting any questions.
